I haven't had one of that brand, but I have had some where they chipped when I accidentally hit a rock.
I said "Huh, hit a rock...oh well", and then sharpened the chip out when I got back home.![]()
If you do get one that's doesn't work right for you,
...both companies will take care of you.
I believe that the price of most of either company's products justify a pretty good warranty against normal kinds of issues
The warranties for the two companies are quite different (Fallkniven & BRKT). Everyone buying a Fallkniven in the USA should research this. I've said it before and I will say it again, I would love a Fallkniven but their knives are not backed up with a warranty I find acceptable for the price. And that lackluster warranty is enforced by their government! I have no problem with minor chipping, as I have dealt with it from different manufacture's and I can sharpen my knives so there is no worry there. I can't justify the price not being backed by a great warranty. For that kind of money, a US company can proved a similar product and back it up with a great warranty.
It is supposed here in Europe, that consumers take more responsibility, to find out about manufacturing failures within the 2 year warranty!
Well, there you go then. The victim gets the burden.
Mikael,
I respect your opinion on many things, sharpening and steel foremost. This however, we will never agree on. In this country, your word is all you have. I need a company's (or a country's) word that a knife at or above a certain price is guaranteed for more than 2 years.
That's ok with me, if You want longer running warrantys!
I don't make the rules and like You, I'm a consumer.
Just out of curiosity, what do You want the longer warranty to cover?
For any normal use, a manufacturing failure on a knife, will easily show up within two years!
The European warranty also doesn't cover user errors, as You are expected to be careful and not cut into stone, or steel and such materials.
So if You want a "no questions asked" warranty, You will have to buy from a US company!
Regards
Mikael

Man I've used the hell out of my F1 and never seen it chip. My F1 is my go to field knife and like I said I've used it to do some of the roughest jobs many people would never put their knives through.
Fällkniven allways wants to see the knife, before they say what they will do.
This is another matter really, but I find the approach galling. I have tried TK3s a few times and in the end found the backlocks unsatisfactory. I went to send one back and the dealer asked me to approach Fallkniven first, which I did. Fallkniven's response was "Send us the knife and we'll decide if there is a problem or not.". So, the option is to ship it across the Atlantic and back, risking losing it or getting banged for duty both ways, just to see if Fallkniven may or may not agree with my view of the sloppiness of a backlock. Maybe they do this in order to bring a frisson into our otherwise jaded lives.
I made the email equivalent of a fart sound and went back to the dealer who refunded right away.
I love Fallkniven knives, but that happened three times with the TK3s. It's just cheap.
To be clear: the answer should be "Send it back, we will replace it".
