No, What's asinine is a "super" Moderator who can't read what I actually said and then proceeds to interpolate something else. Why don't you take a breath, then go back and read what I actually wrote, and stop letting your emotions get you into trouble
I think CS had knives made out of steel from Crucible Steel (CPM 3-V) and Carpenter Steel (CTS XHP), overseas? E.g. their Warcraft Tantos and folding Tiger Claws?By the way, Cold Steel never did that.
I loved the product and don't agree with Lynn Thompsons choice.Ya know, guys, I'm a little confused here. I mean, The title of the thread is "Why do I hate Cold Steel", right?
And, most of us actually like CS, or at least some of their products, and none would say they're a 'fly-by-night' company.
While I don't know the dude, it seems as if Mohave Aviator is trying to be the absolute best at doing both, at the same time!
Still not sure if he hates the product and the company, loves the product but hates the company, or just loves both a little too much...
Let's not bicker and argue who makes sure their factories are using high quality American blade steel.By the way, Cold Steel never did that.
Hold up.
You are offering your opinion. There are others that don’t agree with your opinion. If you wish to pursue defending yours, you can expect others to defend theirs.
I agree with your sentiments that Cold Steel made affordable products that were high value. I also agree it is a bummer it was sold.
I disagree with the idea that Lynn is a sellout who shafted employees, and that he owes “us”.
I am not censoring you. I am merely disagreeing with some of your opinions. As have others.
Lastly, welcome to BladeForums. It seems like you got a rough start here, but I want to extend the proverbial fig branch to you and well wishes. This is a great and diverse community that has a lot to offer.
fair enough, we are clearFor the record, I never said, or even implied, that I dislike Cold Steel, or even LT. Fact is, I've met him. He's OK, probably not someone I'd hang with, but that's me more than him. And his products ran the gamut from OK to 'Oh wow!" I've had three Twistmasters, an SRK, a Culloden, and a few others. In fact, the last knife I bought was a Drop Forged Survivalist. 2 weeks ago.
To be fair, I'm just not convinced LT did anything that was wrong, morally reprehensible, silly, or even unexpected of a man his age, and with his assets.
ARE WE CLEAR???
This is actually a good observation. GSM has been traded around a lot. This is why I do not hold out hope that Cold Steel will keep standards, let alone improve. You chose an example of a producer of extremely high-end ("expensive") arms and gear, and one that produces extremely low-end (not necessarily low quality, but low end -- "inexpensive") for your comparison. CS isn't Wilson Combat. GSMO isn't Hi-Point Firearms. Nor is the reverse true. Did you honestly think we wouldn't catch that? Did you honestly feel you could sell that comparison? smh.
Simply put you have no idea what's going to happen to the product quality and selection of GMSO/CS offerings. Yet you comment as if you do and that's ridiculous. All you can do, just like the rest of us unless you have insider information, is make assumptions.
One thing that astonishes me is that there has been no discussion about what's actually transpired when GMSO has acquired other companies? Now THAT would provide some real insights into CS's future!
I know your just being smart, but you're right. I was young, stupid, and I purposefully destroyed goverment property because I wanted to see if the marketing was true. You've got me, I acted stupidly. Why were you stabbing though government property that our taxes pay for? As a tax payer of over 25 years, I feel that you owe us.
Um.... Here in the real world, knife manufacturing is a very small part of the steel market. Although most steelmaking in general has moved to other countries to lower costs, the best knife steels are still made in the United States - in fact, some companies go to considerable expense to ship US made steel to Asia to be made into knives, because it makes a superior product.
I’m curious, which Benchmade and Spyderco knives you’ve owned, and what were the issues with their quality?
M Mohave Aviator
Ok, can you please name those?
In other words, you've got bupkis! smh. This is actually a good observation. GSM has been traded around a lot. This is why I do not hold out hope that Cold Steel will keep standards, let alone improve.
I have NO, I repeat NO issue with the quality of Benchmade or Spyderco. I think they make very fine knives. I just happen to feel ( in my opinion) they are over priced for **utility** purposes. I believe CS make a better, bigger, more robust folder tailored for emergency/self defense.
I have not seen these companies make a 4 inch folder for the same price, steel quality, and lock integrity that CS produces. If they are out there, and they may be, I have not seen them. I have with my own eyes, seen what CS knives can do. That is why i trust them
Probly worth watching some of Lynn's videos where he talkes about his child hood and why he does what he does. I'm not so much defending him but at least you can see where he is coming from.
