Dr sharp said:Slide you missed the point here...well yeah to cut things, thats the obvious thing , but this question wanted you to delve a little deeper. If we all carried them just to cut things im sure we could find a knife in a drawer somewhere. No this question was to see what stired the blade passion. So if i fallowed your reply, its like saying i bought a ferrari to get to the camp grounds why else would i buy a ferrari.. you missed the point but its ok.

Point44 said:It's really simple...Real men just like to have a feeling of being able to take care of ourselves without depending on anyone else. We like tools, we like knives, we like watches that don't break down, we like torchlights, etc...
Real men prefer filson or drizabone or barbour or whatever compared to dolce & gabbana.
We prefer Omega watches compared to gucci.
We are creatures of efficiency and simplicity.
Dr sharp said:For me it represents a few things. I use my knife when im fishing or in the outdoors. So for me just carrying it makes me feel a little closer to those things when im not doing them. second in a weird way it kinda brings me back to my youth, because my first recolections of a knife were from cub scouts, where i had a swiss army type knife. To tell you the truth 99 percent of the time i never cut anything with it, but its nice just knowing its there. which i guess goes back to boyscouts where i took the oath to be prepaired.
