Why do u like carrying a knife.

I usually don't think about why I carry a knife........just how I'm going to get and pay for my next one ;) But the few times I've thought about it.............
I carry because there were way too many times in the past where I wished I had one. Even working in an office, I couldn't seem to find a knife when I needed it.

The deep stuff
Philosophically, I carry because I think it satsifies some idea of the noble savage in me. I always liked those pics of vikings, conquistadors and muskateers and I always noticed the blades on them. Back then, a blade was their only tool and they survived knowing how to apply that tool. To me, that idea rules in the current world where people think they need and can depend on pda's, cell phones, and the lastest high tech gadget to survive everything from the innocuous to the extreme. To me, sometimes the simplest things are best.

Then again, maybe I just like shiny things :)
 
I heard a story once about a lady and her child that got in a horrible car wreck that landed them upside down with gas leaking into the cab. Long story short- for some reason they were trapped by thier seatbelts hanging upside down and incenerated. :( Im sorry I know thats pretty morbid, but what more reason could anybody need...?


Next time somebody asks you "what you got that thing for..." Tell them to wake the heck up.
 
i carry for utility, for protection, for that psychological edge knowing it is there if needed-i collect for the beauty and craftsmanship-it's portable art.
 
a good knife in your pocket gives off a feeling of potential, just like a pen. with a pen you can write out anything your mind can dream up, same with a knife, though the mediums are more diverse with the latter.

Those who dont carry a knife rely on those who do.

Ive probably used my knives and Victorinox multi tool in service for others as much as myself.
 
Nor do I want to, for that matter. ;)

I didn't start carrying a knife daily until about three years ago, but now I don't know what I (or the people around me...) would do if I didn't. I find I am ALWAYS cutting something for somebody. Besides, I just LOVE being the one who hasd the tool that is needed!

Oh .. why i have knife on me? because i enjoy having them on me .. use or not use is not an issue ... ;)
 
I've carried as long as I can remember. Why? Well...

That old log has a knot in it that I want to see.
I have a splinter that must and shall be removed.
I have to hack open a new CD for my computer.
I feel like whittling something.
My fingernails are dirty.
I like to cut my sandwiches.
There's a box in lab to open.
My glasses need fixed.
I only need "this much" electrical tape.
I want to.
I need to.
No one can tell me I can't.
So there! :p
