If Wolf asks to borrow ya knife just remember these pics !:D

I love Ironwolf's workplace pics - they are saved on my PC. I hadn't seen the hose and hose coupling ones before.

lol,I'm glad you like the pics brother.
Those fire hoses use a cam-lock,and they can get beat up pretty bad;
some guys don't seat the coupling right and then use a rock or hammer to beat the lock into place and they bind.
Often a claw hammer is used to free 'em up and the handles snap (made from cast aluminum), but some gentle persuasion from a HRLM works better :D

Me too ! :D I even saved Wolf's Waki pics from the Swamp - hope that is OK Wolf. Thanks for all the great eye candy, Mr. Wolf !

I started out looking for an old steel with a classy look. Once I had that Ratweiler I figured I had to stick around since I am now working on my fleet of boats.

Got into Swamprats after seeing Trumby's posts. First Generation Rats are my favorite, got multiples of the Battle Rat, Howler and Camp Tramp.
Ironwolf- love the way you use your HRLM!! Btw, how do you sharpen yours? With traditional stones?

Thanks Talon, I use DMT diamond stones, and strop the wire edge off with an old leather belt.
I typically use a blue (med) and red (fine) stone, then strop it.
(I don't use a compound).
It gets the knife sharp enough to shave, and slice the ink off the surface of a newspaper, but still leaves a bit of an aggressive "tooth".

Got my first Rat back in....02, I think? It was the Desert Jack! Then the Ratweiler. Love 'em! I just wish SWKW would re-release these classics or make them a regular offering. And with the RMD LE, it is almost as perfect as the DJ :)

My first Rat was an "Inficoot", I lucked into it because apparently someone who ordered it backed out. It was and is a very nice knife. I ordered a Camp Tramp, "Hands of the Masters" Skinner, a Desert Jack, the very prized "Satin Battle Rat , and a few others. They are all very nice knives. But I did not order any one of those knives because the knives were particularly good, but because the people who were involved with the forum were so good. There was a lot of interaction and support, this was a forum of respectful, knowledgable people. Eric and Jennifer were incredible in how they would explain the hows and whys; the structure was set up differently and it was a very "family" atmosphere. That is not to say it is bad now, just different.
Anyway, I love my Swamprats because of who stands behind them. And because of the cheese eaters who hang out in the swamp. I have learned a lot from you all.

And you sir,are a man after my own heart...
As you've probably seen me mention over at the Swamp,
I went looking for the knives...but stay because of the people.
The knives are Strong,Honest and will NEVER fail you...
just like the folks who make them, and carry them.
There are 2 forums I frequent, and feel like they are Home Away from Home,
and the Swamp will always be my "first love",my first Knife Family.

Oh,and in regards to mentioning the Swamp in the past tense...it's still alive...somewhere in 'puter limbo...
and the Swamp WILL rise again!

Some tools fall into a cartegory where you are likely to bet you life on them. So it is with my blades. Given that, SwampRat / Busse are beloved tools- the go-to pieces in my arsenal.

Never mind the warranty (also good) because if you bet your life on something that fails you ain't around to use that warranty. It is useful because each blade gets hard use before being nominated as a go-to blade. All of my blades are hard users and (there has been) no need for the warranty. That means they do it right the first time and every time.

Then there are the people. Great folks, no finer anywhere. They keep me coming back as has been said before.

And Carl here is one of those folks...
he ain't pretty, and grown men have been known to weep when they're downwind of him,but if the SHTF he's someone I'd be proud to have at my back. (...provided I was upwind...)
:D

lol,it only took a gallon of de-greaser and a wire brush,
but she did tidy me up a tad...
Now I can go into town without someone calling the Wildlife Rescue Centre!:D
