why do you carry

I worked in and around a butcher shop for 26 years (1969-1995). Amazing tools:thumbup:

I carry a knife because it is the first tool, the primal tool, the tool we used as we became fully man. Sharpened rocks were the first objects infused with power we made and manufactured. Western civilization was developed as we....

OK, OK, it's just boys and their toys.

Same thing really.

Well said. Both versions. :-)

I've carried since I was 7 . . . I feel naked without at least 1! That's why I hate flying or visiting gov. places, I hate leaving a knife behind. Took my wife and 2 daughters to see the Liberty bell, they were going to take my knife, no way that was going to happen! Thankful we went with some friends that live in Philly, so my friend stayed out and held my knife. I use a knife everyday for every imaginable task, that way I get to take it out and play with it!

Ha! Actually during the work week I carry 3 knives, a spring assist pocket clip knife for personal protection (I'm close to downtown), a hawkbill for opening boxes (I work in a warehouse) and the ever so slim, sharp and handy Black Cat Mercator for easily cutting just about anything imaginable with ease. On weekends I usually carry a fixed blade sheath knife and a Victorinox Explorer. Those cover about anything I want or need for edc.

I carry a knife and if I don't I always wish I wound have because something always needs to be cut

I carry because, its better to have a knife and not need it than need a knife and not have one. You never know when you'll need it. Prime example my brother had given our cousin a pocket knife as a gift. Within a week of getting the knife my cousin use it to rescue someone from a car accident.

I'm not sure which one of these is the more influential reason why I carry a knife but I think I have them in the right order for most days. However, almost everytime I leave the house just to go to the grocery store, I make sure to grab my Adamas (biggest knife I own). Still not sure why it has to be the Adamas for grocery shopping, but I do it anyways.

1. Utility Purposes

2. Warm and Fuzzy

This ranking pretty much sums it up for me. Once you've started collecting/researching/carrying/etc. it simply feels natural.

Lucky I do or I would no longer have my buddy.
He got tangled in the soccer net in the back yard.

I saved him by cutting the net just as he flopped I think his last bit of life.

I will NEVER willingly not carry.

Now he's a health 3 year old Golden thankful of my knife!
