Why do you NOT leave positive iTrader feedback?

Why do you NOT leave positive feedback for someone after they have left it for you?

. If the other party did everything that is reasonably expected and the deal went off smoothly or above & beyond, then you leave positive. If somebody did a terrible deal, no communication and you had to pull teeth just to get it done then you say that.

How would you accomplish what put in bold above? By giving a positive review but leaving a negative comment?

Remember that if the seller got their money and you got your knife(or whatever item was involved) you cannot leave a negative review. If you had horrible communication, or any other aspect of the sale went south, if the deal was ultimately consummated in the end, you cannot leave a negative feedback. The rules are very clear.

Edit to say I just saw your post about your dealings with M and D, so I think you already understand what I posted above, but it might be good to put it out here again for others who are new here.

It's pretty clear to me that the feedback system is an essential part of buying, selling, and trading on the Exchange. No system would be "perfect"--after all what is--but iTrader is easy to negotiate, gives three clear choices (positive, neutral, negative), and a place to enter whatever comment you choose.

It would probably be better if there were more neutral ratings posted and comments proportionate to that rating, just like there are too many five-star reviews of stuff on Amazon. Most all deals go through fine, but some sellers or buyers are not good communicators, not completely forthcoming, are crotchety or difficult, whatever. It would be a good thing if potential buyers or sellers knew that, "no, you won't get cheated, but this guy's a bit of a PIA to deal with."

For my part, I haven't left any neutral feedback when, looking back, it would have been more appropriate and informative for others if I had done just that. Thinking back, those guys who haven't reciprocated are the same ones who were likely deserving of neutral ratings.

While the results of the survey to start this thread have the most responses at "too lazy" I rather suspect that is the case for almost all failures to follow up deals with feedback. It's really a small thing to take a couple minutes and to contribute to the rating system that helps make the Exchange work so well here. I have little doubt that those who fail to pitch in still go check a buyer or seller's feedback before deciding to make a deal.

I have never left anything but positive feedback, BUT that is only because all I've had is positive results.

I have also only BOUGHT via the exchange, never sold anything.

As a buyer I only leave feedback AFTER I have received the item. Any seller who expects positive feedback BEFORE the buyer even gets the item is smoking something.

If and when I ever get around to selling something on the exchange, I will only leave feedback AFTER the buyer has received the item and has left feedback.

Feedback is only supposed to be left after the transaction is final.

A transaction is final FOR THE BUYER after receipt of the object, checking said item out AND LEAVING FEEDBACK. IMO, leaving feedback is the final step of a transaction from the buyer's perspective. That means the buyer has concluded that the transaction has reached the final stage. That does NOT mean finally getting around to leaving feedback after a couple of weeks. Any one who cannot tell if an item is as described within 5 minutes of opening the package shouldn't be buying anything anywhere over the internet. And waiting for a week to even open a package is ridiculous.

A transaction is final FOR THE SELLER only after the buyer has checked out the item, COMMUNICATED any concerns with the seller, ALLOWED the seller an opportunity to respond and then the appropriate feedback has been left for the seller by the buyer. Only AFTER feedback has been left by a buyer can the seller know whether the transaction is completed. AFTER feedback has been left, then the seller should be able to conclude that the buyer is satisfied. Until that time, the seller is technically in limbo. If a seller has not responded to concerns made by the buyer, then the buyer must proceed as necessary to "be made whole". A seller who fails to work with a buyer in addressing the buyer's LEGITIMATE concerns earns what he/she reaps. And gets placed on my list of "no buy/sell" list.

Once the buyer has left feedback, especially positive feedback, then the seller can safely call the funds their own to do with as they please. UNLESS, of course, after leaving positive feedback, the buyer decides to file a claim with PP that results in the seller's PP account being debited and/or locked. That would put the buyer on my "no buy/sell" list.

And yes, I keep such a list.

I don't get a lot of buyer feedback rating which is annoying, but I always leave seller feedback.

Seller feedback is absolutely critical for the health of any market system, especially online.

I'm primarily involved here as a buyer and given my collecting tendencies, that's the way it'll remain. I'm also not much of a poster. That means I consider the iTrader feedback pretty important in establishing my bonafides.

I've left positive feedback for every transaction I've made here as all were good sales. In most cases I've received reciprocal feedback. The few cases where I haven't made me scratch my head a little -- none of my sellers seemed lazy or non-communicative -- but didn't bother me enough to ask them for the feedback. I figure the small set of positives I've accrued are enough for most anybody to sell to me, which is all I really care about.

Yet another interesting thread for this noob. Simply put, didn't know about it. Can't believe there isn't a sticky on the Exchange section. (Or is there one I missed?) Mods, how about it?

In each subforum of the Exchange youll see a coule of Announcements above alk the threads. The second one is the Exchange rules and iTrader feedback info is located in there.

I forgot two out of exactly 50 transactions due to being a very busy person. I got chewed out for it and took care of both. I have many others who have not left it for me but never had time to track them down. I appreciate if for what it is but its not the biggest factor to consider when I deal with somebody. In fact I have only purchased a handfull of knives in recent years. Most are for my sales, trades and a couple for work that I did.
I have openly trusted just about any paying member and I have never had an issue. That said I feel it is common courtesty, but I can understand it may take time for some to do so.

Some further thoughts... I did read this right after I joined but the part on iTrader obviously didn't stick. Judging by this poll a lot of others missed it too. If the forum is serious about this a clearly labeled sticky devoted to this topic should be considered.

99.9% of the time I spend on bladeforums is via an app on my phone and the interface is not set up to leave feedback, thats my main excuse. I try but I know Ive left lots hanging. Sorry guys.

I recently had two successful transactions that I left positive feedback for the sellers and they did not return the love. I even sent them both pm's saying knife received leaving positive feedback, kindly do the same. It makes me more angry than missing out on a wanted item by mere minutes.

I try and leave feedback for all my deals, though I am guilty more than once of delays on the feedback -- that's purely out of too many things going on than anything else. I actually appreciate the iTrader feedback system since helps male an informed decision, before entering a deal.

While I do expect the other person to leave a feedback, I don't hold them against it. A feedback is good, but not mandatory part of a bladeforums transaction.
