Why does the new software not hold my login?

Had the same "Log In" problem, using "https://www.bladeforums.com/" fixed my problem.
Woah, using that link worked. It must be something on my end I guess.

Edited to add: I guess my bookmark doesn't hold the https. I have also noticed some wonkiness with my Outlook. Must be a Chrome update.

Edited to add: So I mostly use my "most visited" buttons to go places online, but when I inspect the element I can see that the stored address is 'http://www.bladeforums.com/' not 'https://www.bladeforums.com/' and that appears to be the problem. I can edit the attribute in the console, and then I log in normally, but my edits don't stick. Is there a way to make my edits stick, or do I just delete the most visited button and wait until I have enough trips to 'https://www.bladeforums.com/' to build one the old fashioned way? ...

Yeah, I'll stop being a baby and just delete my old button.

The BF logo in the upper left hand corner needs the link fixed. It takes me to http://www.bladeforums.com/ and logs me out.

Something else weird that I noticed, though I'm not sure if it'll be helpful in resolving the issue.

Just looked at a post a few minutes ago (before midnight) without being logged in and it showed it was posted yesterday at 10:57. Put the https:// on which logs me on to whichever page I'm viewing and it showed it was posted today at 9:57.

I've noticed this before even with the old software. I think it's because when you aren't logged in, it doesn't show the time stamps according to the settings in your profile. Since I'm in the Central time zone, they are off by an hour for me if I'm logged out.

After a week of frustration, I tried this yesterday afternoon....so far it seems to be working for me (iOS).
I cleared all cookies and closed the browser
AND
I manually deleted BF from the "saved passwords" cache (settings-> safari-> passwords).

No unexpected logouts since then (fingers crossed). If it doesn't last, I'll post back.

24 hours, tons of in-n-out and link-surfing...and I'm still good. I even tried the BF home link.

My recommendation is you find where your browser stores passwords and try what I did above. I'm a Mac-tard and only know Safari. It stores passwords outside of the usual cookie jar; I'm guessing other browsers have something similar. Hope it works for y'all.

I can get in and stay logged in, as long as I come in on a 2013 thread that comes up when I type the https bladeforums in. It is odd to have to do that after years of no trouble.

I'm having the same issue with Chrome where it boots me out everytime, now i can't login in at all with Chrome.

Having that problem, plus the menu bar up top no longer has the links to "Watched Thread, Watched Forums" etc.
I have to hover over "Forums" to get the drop-down with those links.

Since Spark may still be working on the system, there is a chance that you are kicked out again even if it was working for you.
It happened to me.
In this case, your stored BF cookies need to be flushed.

I'm still having the problem with Mozilla Firefox, but not with Chrome. Using https:// instead of http:// helps for an initial signon, but the signon gets lost after a while, and the URL changes back to http:// Also, the "site information" to the left of the URL changes to "connection is not secure." Again, this only happens with Mozilla, not with Chrome. I haven't updated Chrome for a while so maybe that's why the login still works for me. (Sometimes newer versions of a browser are less tolerant of a bug than the older versions. I've seen this with other kinds of software in the past, where the bug was there all along but the older software didn't catch it.)

Based on the various experiences described in this thread, it appears that the problem only occurs for certain versions of various browsers. I suspect that there is something about the way the Bladeforums site is configured that causes updated versions of some browsers to consider it insecure. It seems odd that sometimes one can login and then the login is dropped later, but the side-effects of software bugs can be unpredictable.

It would help if whoever is working on this problem (if anyone) could post something here so at least we know that it is being worked on. That might reduce the number of duplicate or near-duplicate postings. Also if we know something has changed we can test our logins, thus giving useful feedback to whoever might be trying to fix it.

Some of the workarounds that people have used might be acceptable to an occasional user, but not to someone who logs in to BF every day. My own workaround is to use Chrome, but Mozilla is my browser of choice, so I'm hoping that this problem gets fixed. Also, I have to be concerned that if I apply an update to Chrome it might cause the problem to appear there as well.

Maybe there's something to that, in deleting saved/stored passwords within the browser. I've not been having any issues at all, since making sure I'm always using 'https' links to navigate the site. Part of that, for me, may be that I've never saved passwords to the browser for automatic logins; I've always kept that option disabled in all browsers. Therefore the saved password list is always empty, on my system.

(Using either/both of Firefox & Chrome, both latest updates, on a Win7 laptop, BTW...)

I only get logged out in the PC place.
Change thread or just a page in a thread and get logged out, like a post, get logged out.
https is in the url so that makes no difference anymore.
Cookie clearing makes no difference either.

This is the ONLY forum in which I have this problem. I is an annoyance, which as a business owner myself, I try to not subject my customers to.

This has worked 100% for me so far. No problems since Sunday. I'd definitely suggest everyone to try it if they can.

One other aspect of all this that I hope to see attended to: the links in the few, sporadic emails come through for my Watched threads-- the alert system seems to be somewhat kaffufled-- are formatted without the 's,' resulting in my not only not being able to view the link/thread/post/PM in question, but in my getting logged out (even if I was logged in via other site tabs at the same time). From there I can either enter a weird loop of trying to log in and failing, logging in only to become instantly logged out after posting or responding to a PM, OR go to a saved, viable bookmark and start over, trying to re-find the content I was alerted to.

Frustrating, indeed.

This time, when I clicked on my book mark it was the http:// xxx link that appeared and I didn't have to log in.

If I have https in my bookmark link I am showed as logged in. The moment I click on the logo above or try to surf via any other link, I get kicked out. I have solved this for the moment using the 'HTTPS Everywhere' add on for chrome and choosing 'block all unencrypted requests' in the settings. Now BF can no longer reroute me to an unsecured link which would kick me out of the forum. Having to use an add on just to be able to browse the forum is annoying to say the least.

@Spark isnt there a fix you can do in the .htaccess file? i know this one isnt going to be simple at all. did read something about this on the xeno help forums. may be way deeper than that.

maybe the theme's are causing caos cause they are not made for ssl?

I am working on a LG3 Android Smartphone with the latest Chrome version and the https option works like a charm!
I have the remember me option enabled.
