Todd, I'm glad you got the anvil, but it sucks that it isn't what you thought it was. Although I'd imagine you can do quite a bit with a 150 lb anvil. Are you going to keep it on the base like that? Depending on what you have it resting on, a base like that may make for some hellacious resonance.

Yeah im definitely going to keep it, there to hard to find around here for a decent price, however, I am going to cut the tack welds and free it from the base. A 150lb. anvil is considered a "portable" anvil. Who knows, maybe if 1066Vik's pink anvil ever gets stolen I can throw this one in the trunk and take it to the gathering.

Portable with potential for hernia.

I really look forward to seeing what comes off that anvil.

Swelling almost down to 0! and killing time playing with flippers :D

and I still got like 3/4 of my bottle of high strength opiates!

Those are some neat little buttoned up stitches man. Hope it heals up fast. Joints are not to be taken lightly... wait I mean ...lol

I still have my entire bottle of Percocette minus 1. I took one and went "Oh holy Hell, never again" They made me sick as a dog. Well kinda, Sweaty, dizzy, hot, nauseous, light and sound sensitive. I cant wrap my brain around people taking those recreationally.
Demeral I loved, but Percocettes or however you spell it. Jesus those kicked my arse.

Thanks Thorny. There is still a little swelling around the stitches which makes em look like that.

Most of the high power narcotics require a tolerance, or getting used to period. Not like that's a good thing, but they are effective. I used a non prescribed one to aid the nausea that the T3's were giving me :) then I just stopped using the 3's because they constipate you like crazy. I like my daily movements.

Yeah im definitely going to keep it...

That "anvil-shaped-object" thing is junk... totally useless. When you swallow your pride and decide to get rid of it, I'll try to help you get some of your money back, out of the kindness of my heart. I won't even charge you extra for bringing it to me. You know me, brother... I'm here to help. ;)

Obviously, that's complete bullshit.

Of freaking course you're gonna keep it!! That's a dang fine anvil, and you're luckier than you even realize to have it. Any intact 150-pounder with a clean hard face, much less the horn, is no slouch, dude. I know guys who would fight like dogs and throw stupid money around to own that.

You can always add more weight to the base, to disrupt possible resonance/bouncing, etc. That's one heck of a score as far as I can tell, and in your skilled hands it will be a very powerful and productive tool. Congrats, Todd!

Yeah, I am happy to have it. Like I said, for what I paid for it, its still well worth it even though its not a 250. Its weird really, around here in southern Indiana they are untouchable for a reasonable price, I picked this one up in Nashville Tennessee, JT, not a very far trot for you. The lady that bought it for me at the auction says people are tripping over them around there. That why there so cheap. Might wanna look into it.

I plan on doing some cool stuff on it. Reinventing my creativity so to speak. It will probably be a while before there will be anything of great quality comes off of it for sale, but I plan on having tons of fun on it in the meantime. I know one of the highlights for me at Ethans gatherings is the time Vik and I hammer on his setup. My boy thinks its cool, who knows. Might be a activity he and I can learn and grow skill wise on it together. Im excited to say the least.

Anvils are not available for reasonable prices *anywhere*, even here where sweet old tools are a dime a dozen. Or were until gentrification moved out of B'klyn into Queens... apparently all of CT is part of Queens now.
we've got a 150lb in the basement. pretty sure I hurt myself moving it a couple years ago. It sits on a stump cut from a downed tree in the yard.

In other news, I don't know if I'm prepared for this storm, but I DO know that I'm prepared to not care:

Never be ashamed of who, or what, you are!!

Got-dang right!!! I cain't find the pic of yours truly in the cheesy half-vast Viking helmet right now... y'all will just have to wait for it.

But it's comin'.

Did it involve Turkey?

If it did, it was WILD Turkey. :D

Question.... If an engraving is done on a piece of steel before heat treat... Will it be ruined by the HT ? Im not sure how it would ruin it, but i wanted to ask!!

The guys who stamp their logos in knives, do they do this before or after HT? Id guess before while the steel is softer... But its just a guess.

All, engraving and stamping is done before heat treat unless you want to ruin your stamps or your graving tools, laser engraving/etching however, is done AFTER heat treat.

Thank you very much Todd!! Exactly the answer i was hoping for too LOL

When I had spine surgery last winter, none of that stuff seemed to work, and the oxycontin made me throw up. REALLY don't know what that would do for you recreationally. But then again, I didn't snort mine.....

Some of them actually require an enzyme or two supplied by the person taking them to make the drug do what it is supposed to do - and not everyone has those enzymes or makes enough of them - to make the drug effective. IIRC, zzyzz has a story he told about a drug that didn't work with his personal chemistry and almost killed him. Perhaps he will chime in. What I know is, with all the meds I got for my back - and I got a few of them - none made me think "enjoyable" or "feeling no pain" the way that everyone talks them up. Even valium, which I'd taken a long time ago and seemed to work then, kept me up instead of knocking me out. I was really wonder why anyone would take this stuff for fun.

Especially when there are some very therapeutic natural remedies out there. ;).

Never be ashamed of who, or what, you are!!

Now I will not be able to go to sleep, thank you very much.

Where's the rest? It's gonna be a couple of days, you know. Good plan, though.....even though your execution could improve the next time ;).

Was that taken at Blade?

"taken at BLADE"... No. I was younger and prettier then. Hah!

That pic was taken in my ancestral home, in private, several years before I ever darkened BLADE's door. Or a BH gathering, for that matter. In years hence, I am blissfully unaware of most pics that may been have taken of me at Badger or BLADE or Beckerhead Gatherings... That's probably a good thing. No one needs to see that.

Did it involve Turkey?

Probably, more or less... or maybe not. Regardless, it's still true.
