Good news, bad news, good news............. Good news, I finally got the anvil I bought back in November back to my shop from Nashville Tennessee. Bad news, it is not a 250lb. anvil like I was told. It is a 150lb. anvil tack welded to 100lb. piece of scrap iron. Good news, its in fantastic shape, has a almost flawless machined surface on top and still well worth the price I got it for. So, ehh, not to disappointed.

Looks purty nice! Any "blacksmithing" stuff I've found in my neck of the woods has been mangled to death. Like a clan of mutant hillbillys were turned loose on it with angle grinders or something. Lol! Then the seller slaps an absurd price tag on it cause it's an "antique ."

Anyways very cool, excited to see what you turn out!

"taken at BLADE"... No. I was younger and prettier then. Hah!

That pic was taken in my ancestral home, in private, several years before I ever darkened BLADE's door. Or a BH gathering, for that matter. In years hence, I am blissfully unaware of most pics that may been have taken of me at Badger or BLADE or Beckerhead Gatherings... That's probably a good thing. No one needs to see that.

Probably, more or less... or maybe not. Regardless, it's still true.
That's like the sense of dread I get when someone says "I have a picture of you when you where a teenager!" There's absolutely no telling what horrible/terrible/awful thing I was photographed doing. Lol

Daiz: how's yer liquor holding out?

Good. Since the power is still on, I don't have an excuse to drink that much. The new bourbon is very good. I'd buy it again. Fortunately Trade only found my diversionary stash. Hated that Copper Whatever metal-tasting stuff. But it was so much better than Bud Select 55 that he thought he was making out like a bandit.

We "trust" some of those same scientists when they tell us what the weather is going to be in 10 years and they can't get it right 12 hours in advance.

I think climate is easier that weather. More relevant data and the bazillion small variables don't matter as much.

I still haven't found the viking helmet pic. To be honest, I didn't look very hard :p

It snowed almost an inch here last night. It's almost entirely gone now. I'm OK with both of those facts.

In other news, I think I know what I'll be doing in the middle of March...

Climate is what you expect, weather is what you get. And predictions about climate are getting better, and since it's measured over long periods of time, the trends are a little easier to see. Still, lots of things are hard to predict; if parts of the west Antarctic ice sheet break off sooner than expected and all that fresh water starts to change the ocean salinity and the gulf stream slows down, weather AND climate could change in the extreme. Great read on the subject in sci-fi form would be Kim Stanley Robinson's "Science in the Capital" series. The story is a little hokey (but still fun) and it's written with his particular slant, but the science is pretty solid - he got a NSF grant to go to Antarctica at one point. I just find this big space ship we're travelling on to be fascinating; it will go on for some time after we've exterminated ourselves or left. As for climate change, it seems it's happened a lot of times before without our input; one look at the Grand Canyon speaks volumes about the awesome forces at work on this planet. Hell, even in my neighborhood we have a few "leaverites" - as in "leave 'er right there" - rocks too big to move after the glaciers dropped them. It's interesting to stand on a mountain up in the Whites and try to see with different eyes all those trees as the respiratory system of this planet we live on. And snow....ah, snow. At least it isn't raining....my roof isn't fixed yet!

I think I'm turning into my dad. I just joined AAA. Kay refuses to put the sticker on the Subaru though. I wonder what the new Buicks look like......

I'm glad I'm not the only one that dislikes the less user friendly posting and navigation method.

Add another one to the 'I hate the missing buttons and navigation' group....this sucks.

Oh god. Yes please! send some of that here.

You sir, can have it all. And plz to keep it down there k, thanks.

Bahahaha yeah... I'm with ya there on that one. I did some pretty uh...'wild' stuff when I was younger. Hell, pictures of me as a teenager are bad period. I always had some sort of metalhead hair cut, half down to the skull the other in some kinda formation. All... bad.

In other news, I think I know what I'll be doing in the middle of March...

This sounds like FUN!! and really interesting. I'm jealous.

You can also get the Verano and the Regal with manual transmissions.

Veranos are very nice. I didn't know they had a manual option, though....that's a tempting next car. Road-trips suck a lot in the Honda Civic.

Bought a 92 civic hatchback recently, girlfriend loves it, it's for her, I like it too, jealous of my own buy

Lets say you order from a website that says they ship withing 24 hours of ordering.... After ordering you get no email confirmation, no receipt or anything, yet the charge shows on your credit card statement almost immediately. Then 5 days pass and you still have no email confirmation even proving you placed an order, no receipt, no shipping notification, and no response to emails or phone calls......

Would you...

A; just wait until they get ready to respond to you while saying a hope and a prayer that your package finally does ship

B; ask for tracking info or a refund and hope this time they respond

C; file a claim/dispute with your CC company or paypal and be done with it

???

Depends on the company. If its reputable, I'd go with option B. If its small and no-name ish, I'd do C. F- option A.

What little snow we had is all melting. It's been unseasonably warm here the last few weeks.

We were told to expect up to 24" of snow.

They cancelled school for this????
