Where's the rest? It's gonna be a couple of days, you know. Good plan, though.....even though your execution could improve the next time ;).

there are 3 more in the fridge, two hidden in tonight's chili, and another stash in the basement. The Stoli, Jameson, Bruchladich, and misc shelf of wine are out of frame.

Add to that my cultivated lightweight status and the fact that I was just tipsy for an hour on a single beer. I'll make it through, even if the materials are a bit raw. :)

They originally predicted 14-24" of snow and the majority was suppose to come down today and tonight.

Now they changed it to 6-12" of snow over tonight into the morning. They cancelled schools. This is a joke.... Im not complaining about the lack of snow, i love that... But they didnt have to cancel schools for this. I bet we dont get more than 4" over tonight. Its not currently snowing and i just took that photo.

I got work to do... Cancelling school slows me down... I need to write the weather people and complain LMAO

When I had spine surgery last winter, none of that stuff seemed to work, and the oxycontin made me throw up. REALLY don't know what that would do for you recreationally. But then again, I didn't snort mine.....

Some of them actually require an enzyme or two supplied by the person taking them to make the drug do what it is supposed to do - and not everyone has those enzymes or makes enough of them - to make the drug effective. IIRC, zzyzz has a story he told about a drug that didn't work with his personal chemistry and almost killed him. Perhaps he will chime in. What I know is, with all the meds I got for my back - and I got a few of them - none made me think "enjoyable" or "feeling no pain" the way that everyone talks them up. Even valium, which I'd taken a long time ago and seemed to work then, kept me up instead of knocking me out. I was really wonder why anyone would take this stuff for fun.

Especially when there are some very therapeutic natural remedies out there. ;).

Now I will not be able to go to sleep, thank you very much.

OOhh, a "frankenstory" - kinda like a frankenknife. :D,

First half - the crap that nearly killed me was the chemo drugs (leukovorin and 5FU) for post colon cancer surgery.

The other half of it is that morphine and codeine don't work on me like they do on "normal" people. They don't take away the pain for me. They just make me not give a defecatory product about the pain.

I also have a pronounced tendency to say exactly what I'm thinking at the time with out realizing I'm saying it until after it comes out. Like when my doctor, Dr Gosling, and his trail of interns, came in one day and I said

"Oh look, it's Dr Quack and his flock of geese." Still not sure why everyone went bananas over that one. :D

Any drug introduced into the body by any mechanism (injection, transdermal, oral, inhalation) is broken down (metabolized) by the body using a combination enzymes to alter the chemical composition of the introduced substance and then using various organs (liver, kidneys, spleen, pancreas) as filters.

How drugs work after they are introduced varies by the drug. Some work directly as introduced - antibiotics are in this category. They attack bacteria "as is".

Other drugs are modified by the body after introduction and they by-product chemicals are what actually do the work.

Some drugs do their thing and just get filtered out by the organs. Others will sit stay in the body working away as designed until "modified" by the action of enzymes in the bodies blood stream and cells into a form that is filterable.

Chemo drugs fall into this last category - If your body does not have the enzymes needed to break the damn things down into components that are handle-able by the liver/pancreas/kidneys/spleen, the drugs keep playing Energizer bunny.

Chemo drugs, they attack and kill "fast growing cells - i.e., cancer cells which are basically normal cells that have gone haywire and are replicating out of control, but they also attack the other "fast" cells - r/w blood cells, hair, fingernails and mouth/esophagus/throat cells.

That's my condition - I don't have the enzymes needed to cause the drugs to break down. Chemo works in a "cycle" - You get the drugs one week and then wait 3 weeks and do it again. The 3 week period allows your body a chance to recover a little while the drugs are being filtered out. As time passes, the drugs are broken down and filtered, the dosage floating around is gradually diminished and your body fights back.

In my case the drugs didn't break down. They stayed at the 5 injection level until the drugs just kinda fell apart on their own, working full bore the entire time. According to my oncologist, they estimate that the 1 weeks worth of drugs (an IV cocktail 5x - M through F) functioned as if I had 4 or 5 cycles of drugs administered at one time. Essentially, a near-lethal overdose. Near-lethal because I survived, which is rare. Something like 99% with my condition croak. I went from 198# to 132# in 19 days. I didn't poop for 11 days because the drugs had attacked my guts and everything had swollen shut from my stomach down. I exhibited every known side effect, 3x worse that any thing ever recorded in the hospital before, AND they documented 4 new, never before observed side-effects, w/ respect to these drugs. Lucky me. I came very close to dying from what's called septic shock. I saw the pearly gates and almost went through, but that's another story.

When my little sister was diagnosed w/ colon cancer 4 years later, she told her doctor about my situation and he advised her that the odds were against her having the same condition as it is rare (not as rare as hen's teeth, but not in every Tom, Dick and Harry, either). And went on to say,

"Besides, they have a test for that now."

When she told me that, a bell went off. That was why they were sucking 6 vials of blood out of me on a monthly basis for months, rather than the 2 or 3 every 3 or 4 months, like they normally did. The vampires finally had someone who lived that they could compare blood samples with to a "normal blood" person.

I have a bunch of "What did Z say under morphine?" stories. :D:D

They sure do!

Damn Zzyzz that's crazy! We may have to start calling you Steve Rogers a.k.a Captain America!

My kids need to stop waking up at 6am :( I want to sleep in a little bit more. Because SWMBO god forbid she get out of bed before 8am.

Zz, I had the same problem with Morphine. It made me warm, and loopy, and I didnt care a lick about how badly I still hurt. It didnt make the pain go away, but at the time, I really didnt care much ..lol

Morphine good? Its GGGGGGRRRRRRREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So Amanda and I had an "argument" about how many backpacks and bags I have. She asked me what the sense is to have all these packs and not even use them all. My reply, what is the sense of having a shelf system for the backpacks and not fill it?

"Argument" won.

Jeremy

yes....in your mind, at any rate. I doubt she'd agree. The weemenz, they never agree, even if they don't say anything. Then they blindside you with it (or one of the many other "stupid" things you've done) a couple of years (or a couple of decades) later and you'll be wondering what the hell happened.

Quoted for truth. Women have long memories...they can nurse a grudge way longer than they can nurse a baby...

We, on the other hand, are getting a little more than what was predicted yesterday. At least 18" on the ground blowing around with gale force winds and another 14-20" predicted for today before it's all over. Looks like we're getting all our snow in on shot this winter.

Daiz: how's yer liquor holding out?

aside: I really hate this new posting method, and the lack of navigation buttons at the bottom of the page even more. I'm wasting more time than ever now.

If he drank the entire six-pack he's still Cosbied. I'm glad I'm not the only one that dislikes the less user friendly posting and navigation method.

We "trust" some of those same scientists when they tell us what the weather is going to be in 10 years and they can't get it right 12 hours in advance.
