Why Ganzo?

They are accused of "cloning" but quite frankly all Ganzo knives are plainly marked. There are many clones out there indeed, but Ganzo clearly names their products.

The irony of this statement is that you don't understand how you've answered your own question.

Do you work for Ganzo? This post seems like the kind of :poop: they like to take on our hobby.
Traditional designs that were never patented, or had their patents expire are fair game for designs. It's not that a blade has a "Persian" origin that makes it a copy.

Other established knife companies produce classic knife patterns with their branding front and center. They knives they make have been in the public domain for generations and there's no grey area.

If one has enough time to look through antique knife catalogs, you can see Case, Ka-Bar, Utica, etc...., ripping off Marble's a few years after introduction. Particularly the "Woodcraft" design.

I wonder if they would've been called out.

Ganzo is serving a purpose today. They are making high end knives that even a beginning collector can afford.

By fencing stolen goods.

Of course it's your prerogative to be fine with that.

I have no doubt you realized that the vast majority here would not be.

If one has enough time all the previous clone apologist threads could be searched for facts debunk this "ripping off" you speak of.

It's when it has a Persian style blade, an exact or almost exact handle shape, pin placement, same location of jimping and thumbstud placement etc. that it become a stolen design.
No, in fact I find that question as offensive as you seem to find Ganzo. I still don't see what they have done different than any other knife maker.

C'mon guys, your missing the whole point here. Your pulling that same anti-Ganzo B/S (not everyone fortunately) that brought about my post. I can see like has been said they were among the first Chinese company to copy. Yet as I've said, they all copy. I'll challenge you purists to find a better knife for the money. (and by that I'm saying $17.00 or there abouts) No, I'm not getting kickbacks from Ganzo. I'm pretty sure I'd have language issues if I tried to approach them anyway.:( but if they're listening you can send cash.

Any $17 dollar knife that isn't a stolen design.

You lose.

Bye.

Maybe you are willfully blind?
Then enlighten me worthy one. Show me the errors of my ways. Explain how they are woefully guilty of these crimes, while others remain untried. Explain how Case did not copy the classic Bowie design (just a random example) Show us how all American made knives are new and novel, I can't wait. With VERY few exceptions, these designs pre-date our eldest members. Even the exceptions were copied! Benchmade has a spydy-hole, Spyderco has a Emerson Wave, etc. etc. etc.

You know that Spyderco pays Ernie the vig on every knife they sell with one of his openers?

You must know that; you've extensively studied this in preparation for today. How could you have missed such and elementary fact?

You know the other folks are licensing patents and honour trademarks right? You must know that don't you?

Do you have secret knife cabal information that Ganzo gave you before you started the thread?

I don't care to support $17 rip-offs of another companies hard earned patented products that they have invested the time and money into to design, develop, test, manufacture and then market.

Clearly you are not interested in discussing the logic you used in the inflammatory topic you brought up.

I think there's a word for that.

Enjoy your experience at BF.
Excuse me? inflamatory? that's EXACTLY why I asked! The entire concept of this being "inflammatory" is ridiculous. I simply put forth that this anti-Ganzo rhetoric is more a "made in USA" thing than it is anything else. If you think a USA made knife if worth ten times the amount then God bless you. Buy extra's in fact, it's good for that knife company. I think there are words for people who live in denial too. Damn, I collect Case knives! I just think Ganzo gets a bad rap when every other company does the same.
