Why I'm not especially fond of special orders -- Pix and sort of joke.

Maybe the mod's need proof, but lucky for me, I am not obligated by that particular luxury.

Not understanding this...

Not to worry. I miss so much it's like the clouds beneath my wings....

I have always respected the way Dave thinks. Methinks you and I are on the same page, friend.

I haven't gotten on the forum for a while. I pulled up my HI favorites link tonight and saw this post. I think my heart skipped a beat for a split second, seeing Bill's name and looking at the thread.

Good to see everyone is carrying on.

Having arrived here only recently, it surprises me how an old post comes up or I see something myself while searching through the archives and see how the wisdom and stories Uncle Bill included in his posts apply to current threads or in this case life in general. He seems to have had the rare ability to see the humor in things and keep problems in perspective.

Anyone that has to work with and/or for people with differing specific expertise has been in that situation where someone looks at what you sent and takes it in a way that makes you just want to scream, "How could you possibly think I meant that!" Or, they've received a request and thought "I can't believe he just asked for that," and then realized they just assumed the worst. Uncle Bill seems to have dealt with it much better than most of us do.

From his descriptions of dealing with the kamis such as in this thread, the change in kami marks and such, I kind of have the picture of Bura (moreso that the others because of his age and seniority) as kind of like Chiun from the Destroyer novels. Very bright but with a worldview and focus that twists your mind even when you both completely agree on the facts and conclusion.

I think I'm doing OK. My daughter got pneumonia about two months ago, she got better and had two relapses, I think she is OK now, but I've developed a healthy paranoia watching for signs of anything wrong.

I finished a busy couple of months at work this week, lots of overtime, so life may get a little more normal and you guys might have to put up with me posting a little more again. :-) One bit of good news. I've got 2 months to go until I finish a 10 year straight stint through college and graduate school. It's funny. I was in the woods a lot before I went back to school, now all I can think about is getting back out to the mountains again. not much else going on. Just a quiet boring khukuri toting accountant. :D

Hey L.R.! good to see you on the forums!
Sorry to hear about the young one. :(
How's the M.A. going?

Stay well.

Thanks for the warm welcome back, guys.

Shappa, MA's are going well. I've been training and doing some yoga and running lately to keep my sanity. I'm home with the kids today, so I'm pretty darn happy. Autumn is here, the weather is perfect and trees get more beautiful each day, so no complaints here.

Pneumonia is no joke. It killed my grandmother and very nearly killed me. (Of course, my method of convalescing probably wasn't the best idea.) I'm glad to hear that things are better.

Again, good to hear from you LR. I was wondering where you'd gotten off to.

Dave, Jake, Munk, etc - I understand what's going on now. Funnily enough, I was starting to think the same thing.
