Why is there no other options for the clip position on the military?

I feel the same. The size to weight ratio is the main reason I love the Military.

I love tip up, but if it does add weight I'll just stick with my tip down Millies. Hopefully there will be none added, or very little.

That's why my Ti millie doesn't get carried much.

same for my m4/TI/G10. just one TI slab is enough to drastically change the balance and feel in the hand. it's a great knife, with a very solid feeling etc, just not a milie anymore, stil love it, but less than my CF ones for exemple. i'm dreaming of a CF/BG42 one.

Yes. The change in balance is really noticeable. I go back and forth in terms of my own preference. My two current favorite Military versions are the CF M390 and my hybrid Ti/G10 M390 franken-Millie.

but again i'm afraid i'd still prefer the current one, i'd like to know how much heavier the new one will be with longer liners and more steel parts for the lock (from the patents drawing i've seen). if the weight goes up too much it'll lose a lot of it's appeal to me.

+1.

My BG-42 Millie with titanium clip from STR weighs 111g. Plenty strong for any folder use and so light I don't notice carrying it. If they make it with full liners and the weight increases much it is just a 4" folder and loses much of it's appeal to me. Still like my M4 Millie though :D

PS! The clip is in the perfect position for this knife. I carry almost all my other folders tip up, but the Millie is perfect tip down

I carry my Millie tip-up. I bought it that way. Looks like they just drilled out the g10. I've changed from tip-up to tip-down back and forth about 10 times and the screws are always nice and tight .. haven't come loose yet.

I understand the logic of not wanting to have to crawl up the knife, but it doesn't really effect me because I always always open my spidies with my middle finger from the right side. I don't have to crawl up, but I do have to stretch a wee bit more than my para2.. no biggie. So really it's kinda perfect for me.. whenever I've tried it tip-down I just fumble cause I'm so used to tip-up.
