Why no Kershaw Forum?

Hopefully I'm not opening up a can of worms here, but why is there no Kershaw forum here? I tried searching on google, and it appears that there was once a Kershaw forum here but it was closed a couple years ago. I could only find archives. I'm just curious why it was closed or what happened.

OK, thanks. I just ordered me a ZT 0301 and was having a hard time finding info, but found other sources with google.

I like to finally voice my opinions on bladeforums.com. Notice how only some manufactures are listed, some large well known ones and some unknown ones. One would think the largest and most popular brands have their own forums section, but that is not the case. There is some commercial profiting shenanigans going on here between this forum and those companies. Also, notice if you don't pay the ridiculous $30 member fee, you can't even search not to say no PM. This is the only forum I belong to that does this sort of thing. I have been here for a bit and it seems in my short stay, this place has gone from "for the people" to almost commercial.

All of the threads from their sub forum are still here in the archive section. And the 301 is a fairly common topic in General. Just look around and you’ll find a boat load of information.

Thank you for finally voicing your opinions.

Manufacturers need only supply a rep to moderate their respective forum. It's a matter of choice. There are no shenanigans.

You can pay $10 for a basic membership and have full access to the search features.

If you don't like how the forum is managed, you're free to stop visiting whenever you want. You choose not to support the site with a paid membership so you won't be losing anything.

As far going commerical...you're totally right...I can hardly stand sorting through all the advertisements on this site. It's just nuts.

Maybe you should ask Spark? I've met him in person, and he seems to be a nice enough guy. I doubt he is getting rich off of this forum. I also doubt that it is hosted and maintained for free either. You'll also notice a lack of banner or other advertising here, not to mention there is a buy/sell area here, both for individuals, and dealers. (Spark also owns One Stop Knife Shop)
I would think that if he was running this forum for massive commercial gains, he wouldn't allow activity that could take away from his own retail business.

I figure paying for a membership to be a rather small price for all the information I've gotten from reading and posting here, way more than any magazine (figure and annual rate for just one mag, which is packed with ads)
if that cost isn't worth it to you, then simply don't pay, if it is, then go for it.
I didn't see anything sayin 100% free 100% of the time.

Just my 2cents
Andy

Ok, you’ve got some…interesting idea’s…:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

First of all you can use the search with a $10 basic membership, think about that for a second your willing to spend hundreds on a knife but cant drop the price of a movie ticket researching it? Spark pay’s out of his own pocket to keep this place up and running and never one has he called people who don’t pay for a membership free loaders. I’ve been on boards that have paid memberships in which those who don’t pay can only access a small percentage of the site. Search is down for no paying members because it was causing serious lags through out the forum.

I’ve got no idea where your getting your information on the manufacture forums but your wrong. The companies that wish to have a forum here are free to do so, THERE IS NO COST, all they have to do is provide someone to moderate it. Some send an employee and some have the president of the company moderating. Do you have any proof of these “shenanigans” you mentioned or are you just talking to yourself?

As far as BFC no longer being “for the people” well don’t know what your saying here either. If you mean that BFC is owned by one person who lets us play here then that’s true and has always been the case. Of you mean that its not a friendly place for the people then I don’t even know what to say. This place has become less about the knives and more about the relationships and friendships I’ve made here.

Edit: when I was typing looks like I got beat to the punch by a few people.

i gotta agree with you man. it really has.

I like to shoot at ghosts as much as the next guy, but this is ridiculous. Neither of you have the slightest idea what you're talking about. The manufacturers that have forums here have chosen to have forums here. Those that do not, have either chosen not to or don't know of the possibility.

Dude, it's $10 or $25 to support a site to which you've already made 140 posts. I have no vested interest here, but it would seem to me you might consider paying your way, at least in part. Isn't the time you've spent here and the information you've gained worth a minimal contribution?

and thats another reason that i dont get on here that much. a good part of the community is trying to act like your the expert of this forum so dont jump on my comment. and ive been on here for half a year. i dont think thats 5 mins. i mean thats what theyve told us down south.

New account or do you have multiple accounts?

Either way...instead of simply agreeing with IGotStabbed...share with us your opinion on why you think he's correct.

seriously. its like everyone here is under some communist regime mind control and if you speak otherwise they jump on you and claim you are 'unpatriotic' to the board. i do in fact think its stupid that the majority of members here cant use search or a pm for f#*## sakes. thast why they are so many reposts. there are boards worth $10 to $1 million dollars that i frequent that dont impose these fees on their members. and for a site that requires a fee it sure is slow as hell.

I've been a freeloader for quite a while... and the posts are definitely going down as time goes on. You have to scroll down to read the next one...
(Sorry! TFIC)

This is a great site... but I still miss the Kershaw sub-forum.
