Why no Kershaw Forum?

I never intended for this thread to go downhill so fast  A couple of you are obviously trolling. You have the right to your own opinions, but you obviously get off by posting your negative comments on here. Regardless of whether or not you agree with this forums' policies, there are qualities called tact and integrity that are nice to show. If you don't like it here, nobody is asking you to stay. Nobody is asking you to pay either. You can get by perfectly fine in this forum without paying.

I suspect that the majority of those who pay do it as a donation...not a requirement. I also just upgraded my membership. WHY? Not because I'm required to, but because I chose to make a donation. Small price to pay for what I've gotten from here.

If you don't want to pay...don't. No problem. You are getting something for free. But you don't have any right to complain that you don't like something you're getting for free. You do, however, have the right to leave and go somewhere else if you don't like it.

+1:thumbup: Thank you for your positive contribution to the forums.

The first clue would be large manufactures not being listed and manufactures like K9 being listed. What is K9 Knives? The last post in there was in July...

Also Youtube is still loosing money for Google, but it doesn't go charging members to search..? They know better to create a tiered system. And I know I can't compare this private forum to Google, but the general idea is the same no?

I just stumbled into this thread only to discover it is yet another thread hijacked by trolls, either new or returning. The one good thing about trolls is that they eventually get themselves banned through their own stupidity or madness which gives the rest of us a bit of a laugh.

It's especially satisfying to see the racist ones go overboard.

what large manufacturers? read carefully: Any knife manufacturer who wants a forum on bladeforums can simply ask Spark and provide a company representative to be available. Spark does not go around asking knife companies to join bladeforums. If they wish a presence here all they have to do is the above. What part of that don't you get, or are you reading into to look for some conspiracy? K9 knives is listed because...wait...drumroll....they asked Spark (BF's owner) and.......provided a company rep!!! I don't know how much more simply I can explain it to you so I am going to bow out. I don't make it a habit of baiting trolls and I'm not going to start now.

I don't know what you're alluding to. Care to share the rest of your theory? This forum offers a place for large manufacturers to speak directly with their hard core fans and for small manufacturers to do the same plus reach others that are unaware of their existence. For a business owner, that's cheap advertisement and good business. Anyway, the last post in the K9 forum was...yesterday.

Youtube doesn't charge members to search because its revenue stream is ad based. And, for the 6000th time, you can easily use google to search this forum without paying one cent.

And I know I can't compare this private forum to Google, but the general idea is the same no?
No.

I remember when i first became a member here, i had search functionality and stuff. I came back a year or so later and the site was stripped pretty bad.

What are you talking about????????

If a manufacture has a forum here then its listed, if it does not then its not. It as simple as that.

Whether or not a manufacture has a forum here is totally their choice. They don’t have to pay a dime. All they have to do is provide a company rep to moderate it. Some like Spyderco, RAT, CRK and many, many others choose to. Others like Benchmade and Cold steel choose not to. But Benchmade not having a forum here is purely the choice of Benchmade.

Why is that so hard to understand? Seriously if you don’t understand email me, I’ll explain it in even greater detail.

Members are not charged to search. It was limited to paying members because of server overload. There had to be someway to limit the numbers and i guess that was the only way to do so. It used to be allowed for everyone. The numbers rise and it wasn't working.
Most people paying for a gold membership sell knives here. All sites charge to sell goods. I've never seen any that didn't have a fee. Or do you think you should be able to post advertisements for free, too?
Of course we can say this over and over and it won't sink in.......

Why isn't this thread locked? Why is StotheE still even allowed to post on BF anymore after his ridiculous and racist remark toward Esav? What is going on? StotheE, you've got a lot of growing up to do pal. You've also got a lot to learn about how to talk to people. Finally, you have a lot to learn about how to type. You're an embarrassment and should be ashamed of yourself.

For those who are interested, turning off search for non-paying members seems to have reduced the load by 2/3 to 3/4.

I posted this a few pages back but I think it got buried. Its not hard to see why limiting search benefit’s the site. They’ve been a lot of lag times lately, think how much worse it would be if everyone could search.

So there you have it, an explanation from the owner of the site.

mott,

I think that the reason why sub-forums end here is because people no longer have the time to run them.

In contrast, if you are a relatively new knifemaker or knife company, this is a cheap way to spread word about your products to a lot of people.

Exactly. Well said.

you seem to have me confused with someone who can brainwash himself to justify getting a membership. yes, totally, i dream of the day i can have limited pms to converse with rednecks all over middle america.

maybe you can pay to have the mods capitalize what you want capitalized in my post.

money talks.

the features are not things i want or care to have. for an annual fee.these are natural questions that one would wonder when coming to a forum that asks for money for very common simple features. im not asking these things cus i want those features im just curious. having been posting on forums for a while and being in huge ones and very successful ones from the beginning this is all new to me. i noticed that there is a wolfpack mentality here with not to many individual thinkers. surprisingly some people have answered some of my inquiries without the usual ignorant redneck rage. btw this is the first time i ever heard someone mentioning the google bfc search. that is kind of funny. when you push people a bit is when you get results.

You find that htis place is full of rednecks? Would you care to compare your level of education with some of the forumites here? Not that it is really necessary, as most of us are educated enough to use proper spelling, puctuation, and capitalization.

You may have posted on forums for awhile, but it certainly has not taught you how to behave on them. Did it ever occur to you that, as a relatively new member, it is poor manners to come onto an established forum with quite a few well-satisfied members and tell the owner how to run things/ Those of us who do support the forum are pretty happy with the way things are run right now. Considering that your intelligence matches your manners, I seriously doubt that anyone will be applying to you for advice on how to run a forum.
