Why would anyone

I kind of confused too, is it an actual Panerai made watch that is a re-issue (replica) of a model or a "fake" Panerai made by who knows who like we could buy all over Iraq?

For $330 it's not a real $4000 Panerai...

"Replica" is another term for illegal counterfeit piece of crap.

Listen up everyone. Gold members pay for the right to post sales here. If you have a problem with a sale, Report Post and let a moderator worry about it. Interfering in the sales thread itself will get you infracted.

I disagree, warning fellow members is more important. If that results in an infraction then it is still worth it. A forum is not eBay, fakes and counterfeits are fraudulent items so the sales thread should be disrupted if the mods don't act swiftly. What you are saying is that if a gold member pays BF he has the right to screw other people...

Disagree if you like, but if you interfere with a sales thread, you can get the same infraction.

As long as you are posting on Bladeforums, read the FAQ, follow the rules, report problems to the moderators with the Report Post button or in Tech Support.

We are an internet forum, not a life and death situation on the street. We exist to share information. There are procedures for that. Screams and threats do not convince me.

It is a replica, not a counterfeit. typically a replica is a licensed copy. This isn't a 15$ knockoff Rolex sold from the back of a van in Times Square.

Looks like someone needs to have a timeout and take some deep breathes.

If it is indeed a licensed replica then there is nothing wrong with that listing, however I doubt Panerai licenses its designs, it wouldn't make any sense if they did (especially misspelling Regata). "Replica" is very often used to avoid having listings pulled. I am forwarding the link to that thread to Panerai, let's see what they have to say...

Esav, I think International laws about counterfeit goods supersede your self-made rules & regulations.

Link sent to Panerai for further investigation.
It looks like the box and the certificate are imitations of the real deal, no licensed replica would have that. Try sending that watch to Panerai for service with that warranty certificate and see what happens...

High end Swiss watch manufacturers do not authorize replica watches under any circumstances. To do so would be counter- productive to their business and their brand. They do occasionally license their name but never for replica watches.

um... its a replica.. i.e. not a real Panerai.. Im quite sure the company would not have anything to do with this watch...

That man needs to quietly delete that listing and move along. You can call it what you want, but it's not authorized.

If it didn't have 'Panerai' all over it and was sterile, then it would be a 'replica'. Not authorized, but not stealing name fame.

If the link was sent to Panerai they will be contacting Blade Forums in the near future I would think. They take a very dim view of this activity and along with other Swiss watch manufacturers spend millions of dollars every year fighting this very thing.

Absolutely false!!!

There is simply no way that watch companies like Rolex, Panerai, Breitling, audemars, or patek Phillipe would ever authorize a spitting image "replica", a watch so close to the real deal that an expert eye is needed to id it as not the real deal.

These watches are Counterfeits and the usual give-away is the price; a $4400 watch for $300 is tooo good a deal:D

And please tell me what Jeweler/jewerly store sells these as "authorized replicas"?

These are sold at Flea markets, Craigs list and E-bay (and other Internet sources)

What is misleading about the post? It says clearly that it is not a real Panerai. Nowhere is it passed off as the real thing. He states what he paid for it, and what he would like. This is not any violation of bladeforum rules and regulations.

You invading a sales thread with your accusations on the other hand, a clear violation.

good luck with Panerai, I am sure they care about 1 person in the United States selling their replica that sells all over the internet.

Don't be so sure Panerai will do nothing.

They just called and asked if I had a crammable 2X4 laying around.:D

I said; "yeah for a watch":D

well now I know how to get everyones attention...

Ask away guys... ask me why I would sell "cheap illegal counterfeit merchandise"
and why you wouldnt trust a guy like me....

You may be able to buy a ten thousand dollar watch but I cant.. so I bought what I could afford, from whom I am certain is a little chinaman from china selling chinese knockoffs at chinese prices to poorboy americans like me!!

and the quality is what you would expect from a 300 dollar watch!!!

I love the looks of this watch and nowhere esle can you get that kind of design for that kind of price..

I bought the watch that I liked, they sent me the wrong one and they offered to correct it, i chose to not mess with that timetable and ordered the correct watch!

as for you who choose not trust a person like me, consider in your calculations the number of members here that like me, cannot afford the "real deal" and would like to own a design like this... I offered those members something that was offered to me..

in no way did I mislead anyone in saying this was an authentic timepiece..
I made sure to let those who care, know that it is not authentic and was quite sure
any box or paper work with it was also replicated material!

as for the member who bought the watch, Congrats bro!!! I know youll enjoy it as I will enjoy mine when it gets here!! and to the other 10-15 offers i had, Thank you all too!

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery!

Sorry for the rant.. lots of statement there to respond to....

For me, flashing a counterfeit watch would make me feel like a shallow faker of personal status. Lets face it, nothing says success louder than a top end Rolex, Breitling, Audemars, Patek Philllipe, Panerai, etc.
It took me 50 years to finally add a pair of Breitlings to my watch rotation consisting of a pair of Citizens, a Casio and a Seiko.

If you are goig to fake success, the least you can do is fake it with a real hi-end watch!! It sure does feel nice to walk around broke with a $3500 watch on my wrist and a $400 knife in my pocket!!!:D I look like I have a few bucks and generally I do; like $3 or $4 of them, but who knows and who can tell cuz I am wearing a real Breitling!!!

As to the argument that Counterfeit watches are hurting the watch makers, most that buy clones do so because they cannot affford the real deal anyway, so............................................................
