why you should avoid any Ritter RSK knife

I bought a Ritter RSK1 (folding knife) and am not happy with it due to lateral blade play. I attempted to contact Doug Ritter via his website and none of the links work.

I then contacted Benchmade via their website and now have to wait 2 business days for a response. I sent it late Friday and that means no response before Wednesday. In the mean time I am out over $100 for what was supposed to be a quality knife.

The knife is anything but quality. It has more lateral play in the blade than the cheapest of Chinese knock offs.

Beware the RSK knives, they have no ready means of contact for a refund and that is always a warning sign. One I did not head. Don't make my mistake.

David,

I am somewhat confused by your posts in this thread and the other threads over in the ETS Survival Forum and Knife Forums, considering your earlier compliments about the RSK Mk1 in a thread on Knife Forums where you said, among other compliments, "I own the full sized Ritter SK1 (sic) and it is an impressive knife."

In any case, to set the record straight, neither I nor ETS sell the knives. I am simply the designer and ETS Foundation simply receives a royalty that helps support the ETS Website and the work of the Foundation. Mind you, every page on ETS has a link to my ETS email address and I am pretty sure the links are working as nobody else seems to be having any difficulty contacting me about your posts. These knives are sold by Aeromedix.com, the exclusive retailer of the RSK Mk1 and the company from whom you purchased the knife (assuming you bought it new).

As such, any request for a refund must be made to Aeromedix.com. You can contact Aeromedix.com customer service via their Returns page: www.aeromedix.com/info-exec/display/returns/ . Aeromedix.com has a 30-day no-questions-asked return policy, one of the very best in the business. That is one of the reasons that they are my exclusive retailer, their excellent customer is simply the best. So, whether your knife is defective, or you've simply decided it isn't right for you, they will take it back.

All you need to do is click on the Customer Service Returns link which is on every page of the Aeromedix.com site or call their toll-free number: 888-362-7123. Admittedly, you might get the answering service at 3:05 AM in the morning on a Saturday, which is apparently when you decided to initiate this unwarranted attack, and an email or the phone call might not be responded to until normal business hours, but they would certainly take care of you. Alternatively, the RSK Mk1 is backed by Benchmade's excellent Lifetime Warranty: www.benchmade.com/about_knives/warranty.asp and they would be happy to fix the knife, assuming it is defective. I am not sure why you are offended by Benchmade's response to your email, considering it is the New Years holiday when everyone is off.

Of course, it may also be that you can simply adjust the pivot screw yourself if your RSK Mk1 has unacceptable blade play. One advantage of the superior RSK Mk1 (Griptilian) design is that with the bronze pivot washers and adjustable pivot, the tension can be adjusted to suit each owner's individual taste or needs. Some like it looser, some tighter. Plus, it allows for adjustment for wear that can occur over time and much use. All that takes is a readily available Torx driver.

I hope that this answers your concerns. Benchmade and Aeromedix.com stand behind my RSK Mk1 knives 100%.

Good post Doug, don't sweat his problems he is bashing/trolling :foot: without thinking doug ritter makes top end knives though i have never had a problem it sounds like he is here to fix your little problem.........

Haha you spent $100 on a knife and expected it to be good?

Word is you need to spend over $300 to get anything good. :D

You make quite the first impression.

carrot, none of your post makes sense.

I will never understand paying over 100 for a grip, however how you addressed your problem makes me think of a little boy, who was never liked in high school, and will now take it out on the world.

Hey dude, the guy doesn't even have a username. I bet you all we will never see him again around any of the forums. Or maybe he'll come back with another complain under another nick, like username_6
I wouldn't even take it seriously. You can tell that he (she?) doesn't really know what is talking about.

Happy new year BTW ... Keepem sharp.

After reading his "contributions" over on the ETS forum I have concluded that this guy is either a troll or simply not right in the head.

I think his nonsense can be safely ignored.

I've always had top notch service with Aeromedix, and this seems to be just a pivot tightening problem, and a user problem since this all appears to be a hoax.

Somebody seems butthurt 'cause they spent money they shouldn't have.

Man, yet another ding in Benchmade's and Doug Ritter's armor.

I'll tell ya, if that outfit keeps it up, nobody's going to trust them.

Really getting a reputation for crap.

You come on the forum and with your first post you degrade (or attempt to) two of the most well respected and prolific names in this industry.

Look at the polite and well reasoned response you got from Mr. Ritter. A class act all the way.

And it's just a given that your knife will be taken care of by Benchmade. We all know it.

You've accomplished nothing with your attempted blackmail but to make yourself look like an ass.

Congrats.

I have only one question: were the user names "usename" 1-4 aleady taken?

I bet his password is "password."

This thread did have one positive thing about it.......it made me pull out my Ritter Grip and flick it open and closed a few times and remember how awsome it is
