Wild hogs

Andy, where you hunt I suppose the wild boar has no predators? Does the crocodile make it to those rivers you wait for boar, is is that too far upstream?

Over use of antibiotics and growth hormones is not good of course but a stringy piece of wild hog is not going to have anything close to the nutrients of a grain fed hog. I would much, much rather eat a farm grown hog than something I'd shot in the woods that was eating who-knows-what. Pigs are nasty, lovable, opportunistic creatures. They will eat anything that falls in their reach.

I’m sure their bacon (if they’re fat enough) tastes pretty horrible! I was thinking of all the head cheese (tongue, snout, etc)I could make from one, but after reading that list of diseases I’ll stick to the German butchers version, whose blood and liver wurst sausages , as well as head cheese are the best pork products I’ve ever had!(maybe equal to bacon)

There are places here that buy live wild hogs and sell them, I've heard to European market.

I wonder if it’s for science or consumption? As others have posted, a few weeks of corn will change the flavor back to regular pork, and cured of any parasites, but maybe they are looking for the health aspect of grass fed livestock.?Or they could be re exported to China, where I’m sure wild boar tusk or snout has medicinal purpose.

I thought the continent grew some of the cleanest meat in the world! Or do you mean that hogs are just filthy animals? I think the same would go for farm raised hogs though, wouldn’t it?

Everybody Likes Bacon.

Hell yeah! Except Jules... LOL

Sewer rat might taste like pumpkin pie but I wouldnt know because I wouldnt eat the filthy ...

Dingos and wild dogs will chase the little ones.

Crocs are limited to the far (sort of) north of the country, they love them some hogs and a dead feral hog is the most common bait in a croc trap, but down in these parts as 'wong says, only dingos, dogs and in some cases eagles that will prey on smaller hogs. Once they get some size there is not much (besides me ;) ) that bothers them. Drops Bears are not fond of pork, nor do I believe Yowies are, but I am guessing at times they will not be too fussy.

Out west..

Good idea.
