I've got a pinched nerve in my left shoulder that feels like a knife being jammed into me everytime I move . . . . . It runs into my neck and is making my left arm numb. . . . I've tried drinking a boat load of scotch but that hasn't done much except to apparently worsen the pain by causing me to fall down the steps from the upstairs office!!!!! Bad deal!!!

If anyone here can tell me how to fix it myself. . . (not "go to a doctor or chiropractor") I will award them their choice of a Skeleton Key with any finish that we have available.....

Bring your whacky suggestions. . . I'll try them all!!!!

Might be a good chance for you to mess me up even more!!! :D That sounds fun!!! :D . . . errrrrr. . .well, maybe not so fun since we're doing it to me!!!!

Bring it on HOGs. . . .

Give me detailed instructions on how to make this go away and you will be awarded in INFI. . . .. . . .

Hi Jerry, I have had the same thing. First on my right side at least three times. So bad that I lost feeling in my thumb and wrist area. Recently had the Throbing pinched sucker on the left side. The best thind is to use Ice for 15 minutes then follow with heatfor 15 minutes. This will help shrink the pinching on the nerve.Do this a buch of times daily. Oh! and the cocktails don't hurt  Good luck

Yeah, don't suggest a doctor or chiropractor...that's just crazy talk. I've already tried suggesting that and the reply I got was," %!$$ &* @$$, I'm not going to a doctor!!!" If any of you are questioning the seriousness of Jerry's pain, just call the shop. You can hear his ranting from the other end of the shop in his office!

Any helpful hints from you guys would sure be greatly appreciated from all of the Busse employees!! lol!!!

It sounds to me that the only thing that will help get rid of the pain will be some painkillers that work anti-inflammation ... I've had this in my neck once due to an accident ...and they gave me a shot of cortisone (spelling?) and that helped a lot ...maybe you can get it shot in by someone (not a doctor :p) .

Or score the drugs with the anti-inflammation that will help reduce the pain ..it helped me after the cortisone stopped working.

Otherwise the only remedy I can think of is rest ...but I don't see that happening.

Maybe a nice massage by a beautifull lady ... that might help ...a nice shoulder massage:eek:.

If my neck acts up again I need to do some excercises ...rolling my neck... pushing it left and right a few times ...rotating my shoulders ...and so on.

I think your best bet is a good massage with an ointment that warms muscles (like tigerbalm) and a good pain killer with that anti-stuff in it.

Hope you get rid of it ... I know it s*x big time.

I have a lot of problem in both of my shoulders. Try this, sometime it helps me. Sit is a chair, like a dining room diner table chair no arms or folding chair, and let you arms fall freely to your side. Hold one of your big bottles of scotch in the hand that is on the problem side, right shoulder, then right hand, or a five or so pound weight. Relax the arm and shoulder and let it hang free. If you do not have anything around that weight then simply hold on to the bottom of the chair seat and gently, gently lean towards the side that doesn't hurt. Right shoulder hurts lean left. Do this for a while and sometimes it will help relive the pressure from the pinched nerve. I find that the leaning method works better for me unless I have been drinking. Good luck Jerry I know what you are going through anbd it sucks.

Keep on a steady dose of motrin, Aleve or Tylenol to reduce the swelling and keep that shoulder iced which will also keep the swelling down.

Go easy on it you'll give it a chance to heal..

If not... try beer bongs....

Find the largest hunk of INFI you can find in the shop and drop it squarely on your pinky toe, this will immediately remove any pain you have in your shoulder or arm. Repeat as needed.

You know my address so you can send the SK anytime you want ;)

:D:D

Lay on your back, pull your left knee up and twist it over to your right side, have someone gently push down your knee toward the floor right about at your waist, try to keep your back/shoulders flat to the floor then do the other side. You may feel a pop in your back, then lie on your stomach, and have someone push down on your spine with both palms side by side about 3" apart starting at lower back and repeating up the spine toward your neck, stopping between the shoulders. breath out heavily each time they push down on your back .the pain will go away in a couple days, just lingers a bit from nerve agitation. I have your same problem exactly on occasion, this method has worked for me for years now. I really don't care if I win the knife, just hope you get to feeling better. I can also recommend "Skelaxin" or "Flexerl" for relaxing the muscles, provides some relief from pain and sometimes allows the back to realign by itself. Just don't drink with these medications.

Oh, Oh, I get first dibs on giving Jerry the shot!!!!!!! :D lol!! I get to choose where to give the shot right?!!! :D

Bro,

Here's whatcha need to do...

The alternating cool and heat packs is excellent advice. You need to follow that routine for about 60mins. It is also much more effective at altitude. A plane ride, for instance.

You also need to take antiinflammatory meds. This will help prevent swelling of the site and allow the shoulder muscle to heal normally. Ironically, you will probably need to take these pills with some sort of liquid...might as well be your muscle relaxant. ;) I hear that Scotch is amaaaazing at 30,000 ft.

If that doesn't work by the time that you get here, you'll find that my wife has an excellent assortment of various meds in her medicine cabinet. Some more potent than others.

Another thing that you'll want to consider is exercise. Nothing too elaborate, mind you, but enough to let your shoulder know that it needs to keep healing. This exercise could be accomplished by drinking more scotch to take more antiinflammatories, or even distributing small parcels of Infi goodness. Maybe even both.

You could get plenty of said exercise here in Portland -- at Blade West. ;)

Call it a "Get Well Plan". :D

I had the same problem once, cleared up with mega-doses of Aspirin.

Also, there is a perscription medication that is called "Daypro" that has been a wonderdrug for me. It once saved me from back surgery.

As far as I'm concerned a compress of female brest removes all pain in any conditions so do not waist your time sitting at the computer - go get a girl! :D

360 Joules,

I got a little nervous when I read the word "exercise" . . .but once I read the details, I knew that I was ready to join your gym!!!! :D

Tree Herder,

I told Jennifer about your suggestion and I think her slapping me might have actually helped my condition!!! :D

If there are any Asian markets nearby try aby one of several patches that they have to relieve muscle pain. Salon pas comes to mind as well as some patches called icy hot. There is also a cream called counter pain that works well. Good luck Jerry.

Fall down the stairs again, on the opposite shoulder this time. That way they will both feel the same.:)

Have Jennifer do one of those Japanese massages where she walks on your back that should fix you right up    Oh and make sure she takes off the spiked heels :D :D

A very hot shower and take some anti-inflammatories. Then ice packs to the area while lying on very flat surface like a broard.

Hope you start feeling better!!!

If that does not work Vicodin is your friend

Be careful with numbness that runs down the left arm... I always think heart because of my old man's condition.

Sorry to be a downer....

How about switching to Johnny Walker Blue Label while sitting in a hot tub.

I love the amount of people viewing this thread right now as opposed to the others :D:D

I wish i knew the answer to this.... take a hot bath to soothe the pain in the mean time?
