Great contest. I love the outdoors because it is more forgiving on my aroma. :o

kidding.

...bacause that's where I most connected to the rest of the world.

Great idea! I like hearing all these positive things about the outdoors.

I like outdoor activities because it gives you a change to use your humanly senses in the natural environment they came from and it it opens you up. Being able to touch, feel, see, hear, and taste it is very satisfying and interesting. I have had way more "moments of clarity" in the wilderness than in the city. There are times when you see perfection like there is nowhere else and it just strikes you down. I love that.

Thanks for the chance! 25k posts is awesome!

Strange. I love the outdoors because I didn't grow up on a mountain.;)

I was actually born in the heart of Detroit, MI. A city rat through and through. Even there I knew that the woods and water is where I really needed to be. Finding little patches of woods along railroad tracks, little out-of-the-way ponds and places to get close to the Detroit or Rouge river. We'd even get BB rifles and set up makeshift ranges in the yard or shoot pigeons off the neighbors roof. Outdoor activities have always had their hooks in me.

My dad and uncle would take us camping or fishing on rare occasion. Maybe once or twice a year but they are the most memorable times to me.

Thanks for the givaway I should have 25 posts here but i cant check.

anyway......
I love the outdoors becuase its gives me a reason to use my knives and buy more gear
so i can convince myself to get out more often.

thank you for this opportunity first off, and i grew up in the mountains and was always playing in the foothills i lived right beside i have just recently gotten back into it as living in a major city can sure give you lots of distractions, but one of my favorite things is spending time alone to think or enjoying a nice day in a peaceful place with friends and family

25,000 posts- Wow! and congrats :)

I've always loved the outdoors since being a little kid. Loved to hike, fish and hunt and very much still do. I'm very fortunate in having been able to make my career working in the outdoors and probably more importantly, having played a role in preserving the wonderful natural resources that we all enjoy so much.

Thanks for the chance, sir!

I'm attracted to the outdoors for one reason, and one reason only. It just FEELS RIGHT. When I'm in the woods or on the water, I feel like I am stripped down to the essence of my being, and I love the way that feels. The small things become important again, and the world seems to hold still long enough to get a grasp on, like it doesn't do anywhere else.

I was raised in a religious family, but I'm no longer particularly spiritual--except when I'm in the outdoors. Being out there makes me feel both incredibly insignificant and marvelously important, all at the same time. I become a part of my environment, rather than it's creator. With no air conditioning, refrigerator, and computer, I become just like the animals, subject to nature's changes and moods, such as the weather and the stinging insects. There is a power in relinquishing control, because as a part of nature, I am able to manipulate my environment in a very direct and very rewarding way. With a simple piece of sharp steel and the skills I have developed over the years, I can make a fire to keep myself warm. I can find food to keep myself fed. I can care for those I love.

In short, I love being in the outdoors because it awakens in me a primitiveness, a very "right" way of being, of living, and I never feel as peaceful as I do out there.

Thanks again,

Frostyfingers

I'm trapped in the urban jungle and can't get out!! I love that the wilds still understand that all life is connected and still part of the natural world- not something that many urban dwellers get.

Thank you

what is there not to like about fresh air and sunshine. nature is all important we used to live out of doors, it's in our blood
a secluded place, campfire, cup of hot tea... all good

Congrats on the 25K! I guess I need to start contributing more.

I enjoy the outdoors because it helps me to maintain my sanity. When things are stressful I escape to the woods or mountains and I can feel the stress melt away and I come back a much nicer person. I also find like-minded people in the outdoors to be a refreshing change from most people in the big cities.

All my life I've been attracted to the outdoors and because of this I've been in the military, a professional mountain guide, a Scoutmaster, wilderness survival instructor, SAR volunteer, backpacker and climber.

Thanks for the giveaway!

I just feel at home in the woods. When I was a kid there was a girl the same age as me who lived next door. She had a large birthmark on her face and she was self conscious about it. We were close friends and spent a lot of time playing in the woods.

Very good of you! I'd have to enter because that's one such a great blade! Hehe. I just can't escape loving the solitude, the peace, and the total freedom of the outdoors. Can't be beat!

I like the outdoors because it is relaxing to shed most of the artificial folderol of modern life, even if just for a short time. Reducing your activities to a simple level, where you have to concentrate on the basics (preparing food, fire, water, shelter), is almost meditative.

Much of my camping is done while traveling by motorcycle, and it is a natural extension of riding for me. Why go inside just because I've parked?

Thanks for the contest - maybe I'll get lucky!

Thanks for the Contest!

I love the outdoors because most of my hobbies revolve around them such as: Hunting, Fishing, Backpacking, Running, Hiking, and its nice to get out of buildings whenever possible.

Being in the Army for 22 years made me want to always be preparred, either in the mountains of the US, the desert of Iraq, the jungle ofThailand, or in the big city. Survival is a state of mind.

Whoa, that's a LOT of posts! Congrats!

Thanks for the opportunity!

Well, for me outdoors is the place where I can feel truly part of the big world that I know that is out there but I just can't feel part of it whenever I look at it from a TV or a computer screen. In the outdoors I can feel as if I am part of nature and not just a bystander.

I have been attracted to the outdoors by what I guess is most easily described as an aversion to the city. I live in Austin, TX and am constantly bombarded with noise at all hours. Going to the woods is my escape and it allows me to keep my sanity. Of course, I am a bit of a gear junkie, so hanging out in the woods gives me the excuse to buy/test/hoarde:o more gear.

Thanks for the giveaway

Congrats on the 25K

I am attracted because it is more peaceful than anything else. I also like being able to live how our ancestors had once lived.

P.S. I do not wish to enter the contest, just felt I should congratulate you.
