Win a Free Woods Kit

I'm attracted to outdoor activities by my nature I suppose, one of my brothers and I built a debris "cabin" with a slant roof and walls chinked with moss as kids, it took a whole summer.
It even withstood the winter snow.

Now that I'm older i wish I had that kind of time and space to build a better one. Now it's more related to really enjoying what time I do get.

Thanks for an awesome GAW! keep on posting, I enjoy reading many of your posts.

I grew up in the Catskill mountains of NY and I haven't felt 'right' living anywhere that isn't surrounded by forest. I guess spending time in the woods is the closest thing to religion I've ever known.
Thanks for the opportunity.

I love the outdoors due to a Scoutmaster in Boy Scouts. He made it fun while still learning. Thanks Joe!

I love the outdoors because I work a ton and my homelife can be hectic. Fishing and camping keep me grounded. That is when we don't have four feet of snow.

The outdoors gives a sense of peace that nothing else can compare.

Thanks for the contest!

I enjoy the challenges of learning and applying the skills needed to camp, climb and and if needed be survive

Thanks for the chance

Very cool, Thanks.
I like the outdoors for a lot of reasons. Mostly I think it Is to get way from most people. Just to do / go where and when I want. It's not that I am antisocial but come on sometimes enough is enough know what I mean?
That's why I say "What a great day to be outside".

I love outdoors activities because they have always been an escape or relief valve from the stresses of everyday modern life for me. When I'm out I'm more focused on the present and I can truly enjoy nature. I'm happier and healthier when I'm out in the bush. The outdoors can also be a spiritual experience for me.

thanks for the chance.
I love the outdoors because it gives me a place to clear out my head.
learning/practicing survival skills is just gravy - and it helps justify my knife habit.

Thanks for the contest!

Your sunrise/sunset thread is a big example of why I'm attracted to the outdoors. Nature is beautiful. I love to go outside and explore, and come across unique sights I haven't been exposed to before. It stimulates my mind much more than sitting in a room with 4 off white walls and a thermostat controlled environment. Society and human products definitely have their perks, but I've always felt a little more at home in the outdoors. I feel more free walking down a trail than I do sitting in a chair wondering about the worries of society.

I am drawn to outdoor activities because I think it brings out the self sufficient qualities in me which I think is lacking in our society. I also am grateful the I am blessed with such a vast and beautiful world and it is rewarding to experience as much of it as possible.

First congrats on 25 thousand posts, damn I got a long way to go.
Second thanks for the chance for some cool stuff.
I've always felt comfortable in the woods, like I'm home or something, when I was in the Boy Scouts I couldn't wait for the campouts, then when my kids were old enough we joined the YMCA Indian guide program, had some great times there too. Now we camp when we get a free weekend.

I like the quietness and beauty of nature. I just like to get out and get away from all the noise of the city and the stresses of everyday life.

It takes me back to the days of my youth growing up on a farm in Southern Ohio. Back to a day where I was free to roam and had no responsibility. Just FUN!

25k post wow that is a ton congrats and thanks for the contest

i would have to say what attracted me most to the outdoors was the fact that when i was younger it was how me and my pops and brothers bonded the most. we were always hanging out running around the woods hunting camping and playing. and still to this day the woods and outdoors keep me and my family close together and having fun. me and pops are always out hunting and camping. even though he is getting old he would rather be walking in the woods than sitting in front of the tv. thats what really made me love it so much

thanks for the opportunity

CONGRATS ON 25K!!!

My interest is almost instinctive. I feel more "whole" when I am in the out of doors. Thanks for the chance Guyon!

I love being in the outdoors because I never want to stop learning. Nature is the original classroom, where we learn our most important lessons.

G'day Guyon.

Thanks for the opportunity

...and explain why you are attracted to outdoor activities.
.

As a dear friend of mine so beautifully put it, "it enables me to get in touch with my inner Neanderthal"

KInd regards

I love the outdoors because it allows me to escape the congestion and tension of the big city. Mellows a person out a lot.
