Here is the prize: a slightly used, but still in great shape, SOG Puppy (elite at that):

Here is the contest: An animal was killed near a treeline behind my residence. I noticed it while walking the dog. The first person to correctly guess the species of animal wins the SOG Puppy. Correct identification must be exact, e.g. Lesser Spotted Tree Frog, but Latin is optional.

Here are the rules: 1) You must be 18 years of age or older, 2) You can only make one guess per day, 3) If you guess what someone else has already guessed, everyone will make fun of you. That's just the way it is. 4) If no one has correctly guessed by the end of the day (2400 MST), I will post a pictorial clue the following day. ( I have about 4 pictorial clues, but I doubt it'll take that long; I'd be surprised if y'all don't nail this in one day.)

I hate being 17.5. I wish ages could round up....very cool contest.....best of luck everyone! :)
 
Dang, mostly good guesses (I don't know if Wild Turkey is an animal or turns you into one), but none are right yet. Spooky, I'm gonna have to think of a prize for you just for using Latin (and a good guess, we got them too).

Vance, the rules stated that we could make fun of you if you guessed what had already been guessed by someone else but I think your picture/avatar (Is that a guess too?) makes fun of you enough already.
