WINNER SELECTED --- leghog's Never To Be Seen Again GAW

I am in. Thanks for a chance at a very generous GAW! Sorry, I cant post pics at the moment, but I will describe a knife I just couldn't live with even though it was very pretty. The knife was a GEC 66 Calf-Roper with stag handles. It looked beautiful in the pictures, but was so much smaller than I was used to. In the end I had to get rid of it.

I haven't been active here in a while, I was still carrying and using traditionals but not checking the forums, but I'd like to be in on this one.

I loved my BladeForums 2015 knife. It had pretty much my favorite blade combination on a great frame. I modded it to have rounded ends and an easy open notch for the secondary. I carried and used it regularly. I enjoyed the historocity of it, being one of the last Canal Street knives and my only knife from that outfit. Unfortunately, I must have set it down or let it slip out of my pocket at work and haven't seen it since. I hope whoever found it at least enjoys and uses it, even if they don't understand the significance of it.

I want to love my first GEC in a while, a #13 Whittler in Muslin Micarta. It is a beautiful knife, and I'm happy to have my first whittler. The one problem is that both pen blade tips are slightly proud of the frame. I know this isn't a huge problem for most, but I just have a hard time getting over proud tips. I'd file the kicks, but I'm afraid of marring up such a classic looking knife. I don't know if I'll sell it, trade it, or see if GEC can remedy it, but either way I'm glad I got to CF&CE it [emoji106]

I might have a Clerk on order also, if I got in line quick enough, so that's exciting.

Now that I think about it, I sold the previous BladeForums Knife (#77 clip point in beautiful stag) for short minded personal reasons. I'd definitely buy back both, if possible.

Very generous GAW.
Notcan entry, since I can't get pictures to post usibg my phone.
Only knife that I have that I just can't warm up to is a large Rough Rider "Coke Bottle" in smooth white bone.
It's a great knife, but just too big for pocket carry.
Maybe someday I'll make a belt sheith for it. Until then, it sits in my knife box.

A stock photo on your behalf. Hopefully leghog will accept your entry.

Im in, thanks leghog.

A knife I wanted to love but just can't is my speaker jack. It's nice and pretty neat, but it has very weak closing snap, the blade is long and narrow which feels strange for a sheepsfoot to me and the handle shape falls behind in ergonomics compared to most other jacks. I do like it (because it's a knife) but not crazy about it.

I have come close to pulling the trigger on your offering a few times, but I was always beat out if the gate by another buyer.
Thank you, I am In!

This knife shown below is my Grail!

The Wenger Professional 4 layer.
This knife was made between '79-'81 (iirc) and who knows how many were made... I have been looking for one for the last 4 years, and I have only seen the same 3-4 pics recycled online, nothing in person, and no leads...

The Wenger Professional 4 embodies all that I feel Victorinox/Wenger have come to represent: We have a knife that has everything you want, and nothing you don't. (Barring production numbers I suppose, )
I have found similar but they all have a corkscrew or some other implement that I don't want.

leghog, this series of GAWs you've been doing lately has been incredible!

Not an entry for me, partly because I recently won Jack Black's big GAW, but mostly because the knife that I wanted to like but just never warmed up to was, in fact, the 2015 BF knife.

Like you, it was my first BF knife, and I was very excited about it, but in the end I had the same disappointments as you with the edge grinds, and ended up selling mine.

That said, it is a beautiful knife, and with a bit of work I think the edges could be improved. Good luck to all the entrants!

I am 100% IN! Leghog you are constantly outdoing yourself with these sir...

I want to love the GEC 47 pattern so much but can't. Haresters, vipers, all of them. They look so cool but feel so wrong.

I am in Leghog. I would love a chance at that CSC.
For me, the knife I thought I would love was the Navy knife. I was so excited for it to come out, and when I was able to open it up for the first time, it just left me feeling flat. I'm not sure why. Charlies versions were great though. The bail and bolster treatment was very cool. The jigging was the best ever from GEC, and I wish we would see more of it. But overall I didnt react like I thought I would.

Thank you, but not an entry, because I don't like its bolsterlessness. Otherwise I might even have found the money to buy that one, which seemed otherwise perfect.
Pictured is the latest of my be-all and end-alls. I like it, but more for Sunday-go-to-meetin' than EDC. Maybe I just need to stop babying it.

I've wanted to like the stockman. Not completely sure why i don't. Guess it just isn't for me, so this one sits.
Liked that forum knife, but just couldn't participate at the time. Thanks for the chance.

I'm in! I've been wanting one of those for a long time but have never been able to connect.

For me, I want to like (and have repeatedly purchased) stockmen knives in various sizes, from different manufacturers, and for some reason I just don't care for them. I've got an assortment, from 2 3/4 to 4 5/8" and none of them speak to me. I get along OK with this 34OT but I rarely carry it. I just can't get behind 3 blades. 2 is juuust right though :)

I am in. Interesting that someone else mentioned the portliness of their CSC. I have a pristine CSC Barlow which is quite heavy and thick in the handle. I'll will always keep it as one from a fallen flag, but it's not my favorite.

Any Congress, just too many blades, what do you do with 'em all:confused:

I'm definitely in. Man I love wood scales. Mine would be a sowbelly stockman. I was sooo excited to get a pocket worn harvest orange Case. When I got it, I loved the heft. The size and weight were perfect. But the blades were too thin for me and the angle on the spey never appealed to me. I've tried and tried, but it never lasts.

Count me in. Ive been carring around a case sowbelly for over a year now. I love the pattern and stockmans in general, but Ive come to realize that my ideal pattern would be a main clip and a sheepfoot secondary. I have no use for third spey blade. If I would have come to this realization earlier I would have been in for one of these for sure. Sadly I didnt and seem to always miss these when they come up or dont have the funds at the time. As for a knife I never warmed up to, I would have to say the viper pattern. Just didnt like the thin tip. Its such a well loved and accepted pattern by GEC and I wanted to like it but I never did. Thanks for the very generous GAW!

I'm in, because i absolutely adore my 2015 forum knife.

I've never clicked with my Northwoods Michigan Jack. The easy open choil seems unessessary with the wharncliffe. And the "rustic style" finish on the blade brings down the classiness of the oiled bone. Nonetheless, i haven't sold it yet, so here's a glamour shot from sometime after first unboxing.

I'm in. I always wanted to love peanuts, but even though I won one in a GAW, and have a stag Case I'm planning on doing a GAW with , I've never been able to warm up to them. Perhaps it's size, idk. My palms are 4 1/2"-4 3/4" wide. They just feel like tiny little gum-ball prize knives to me. I know that's anathema to some here, and I respect their opinions, that's just my feelings about them. :D
Thanks, Neal

I'm in and thanks!

I always wanted one of these Queen Barlows due to the small Wharncliffe blade. In the end it really just didn't do it for me. On top of that I think it knew I was really bonding with her because when I was opening it to take pictures for sale I ended up with a cut that needed a quick trip to the local urgent care for some liquid stitches.

I'm in. In this category I would say lockbacks in general. I just find the locking feature more trouble than it's worth. But I haven't been so disappointed that I've sold them....
