WINNER SELECTED --- leghog's Never To Be Seen Again GAW

I am in. Thanks for the generous GAW. I fell in love on sight with a GEC #26 Sleeveboard in primitive bone and with a main clip blade. Gorgeous! However, my nails hated opening both blades, in particular the secondary pen knife. I tried hard "softening" the backspacing - to no avail -and I decided to pass it on.

I'm not in, because I have a '15 Forum knife, and it is pretty much my favorite traditional knife... Darn it! I don't get to enter in all of your GAWs Leghog!

Oh well, even if it isn't an entry, I can still participate:

I just haven't been able to fall in love with the 2016 knife. I'll be holding onto it. And I still take it out and use it, but it just has never really spoken to me.

I'm in, and thanks a ton for the chance.

One knife I have that I love some features about is a Queen/Burke grandad Barlow. Super hard pull. Pretty gappy from the factory. I have reground the blade, but it is still too thick behind the edge. One thing I that really ruins a knife for me is a thick blade behind the edge.

The bone really looked great until I dropped it twice on the pavement.

Not an entry but thanks Leghog - I have all the forum knives since 2010- I think they are all great in their own ways-I guess they represent the variety in the cutlers art, materials ,configurations ,blade shapes etc.
to me that makes them very interesting and I will keep on collecting them for the foreseeable future- that is until they bring out a tiny toothpick- I have a a couple of tiny toothpicks -a beautiful case dmascus with antler handles and an astoundingly beautiful S&M with mammoth tooth ivory-both great but I just wish they were ... kinda ... like ...bigger?
The full size toothpick seems to be on the verge of extinction whereas the the tiny is in plague proportions. WHY?
cheers

Not an entry, just here to say it's a great GAW, I know what I'm talking about, mine never leaves my wallet (it's a truck sized!), except for food at restaurant where it's usually a show stealer.
Here another one that sits in my purse but gets never used : my first Case/US knife, a lovely Baby Butterbean. I had never realized it was so small. Too small IMHO to be useful in fact.
Someday I'll give it to my Grandson, but before I'll manage he thinks this is something very dear to me! (Old man's strategy! :D)

I'm in and thanks!

I always wanted one of these Queen Barlows due to the small Wharncliffe blade. In the end it really just didn't do it for me. On top of that I think it knew I was really bonding with her because when I was opening it to take pictures for sale I ended up with a cut that needed a quick trip to the local urgent care for some liquid stitches.

I'm in as well, and I'll ride the coattails of your post. I bought the same knife and was very disappointed. The main blade had a rather weak pull, and even worse had bad stay (I guess that'd be the way to describe it) when opened. It took very little to move the blade in open position, and that irritated the heck out of me. On top of all that the wharncliffe had a very hard pull, like 8-ish. I returned it to A.G. Russell. It's a shame. Gorgeous knife, but terrible build.

I'm in. Thanks for the chance!

I picked this one up as a keeper, but it never found it's way into the pocket. It is a great knife, but I like my stockmen in the 4" frame better. The blades are just a little small for me.

Edit to add.
Interesting turn of events, I traded for these 3 knives below fully prepared to move the 15 razor and keep the other two. After owning all 3 for a few weeks I realized that the 15 scout and 77 Barlow were probably worth more to someone else than they were to me, and I moved those along. The 15 Razor despite being the knife I originally like the least got modified and has now become one of my most carried. Funny how that works.

I am in, thanks for the good will.

"describe a knife you wanted to love but just couldn't"

For me it's the Barlow. I could never see the appeal. Thought I might be missing something, since it's so popular. So I saw a used Queen with customized scales (aluminum) at a huge flea market for $5. Bought it, cleaned it up and carried it for awhile. Didn't float my boat. Too big, didn't need two blades. Didn't really like the shape. My buddy doesn't own a "custom" knife, so I gave it to him. He loves it. Go figure :)

Im in thank you for the opportunity. I've been looking for one of these knives for awhile. I have medium to small sized hands so this one will be a great size for me IMO.

The first GEC Knife I ever bought was around this time last year it was the Texas Camp Knife SFO by Waynorth (Charlie Campania) I loved the look of the knife. It was built beautifully but like I said before I have small hands so I couldn't carry it at all.

Im in!

For me the Higonokami was a bit of a disapionment in hand. Always loved it in the pictures. The simple construction made it unusable for me. I bought two, one for use and one for keeping. Might give away the unused "user" to someone I know will appreciate it.

NJBill, I've not seen this one before, really unique. What is the long thin blade (punch?) with oval cutout? I'm thinking a leather stitching needle.

Pretty much.
It is called a sacking needle. They are fairly handy for trail repairs, though the wide material around the eye can leave a large "wound" in the material. Thinning it down slightly helps, especially since you have the awl to make the hole needed and not use the sacking needle for the puncture.

I'm in!

For me, it's Bark River knives in general. I've had three of them, and just could never warm up to them the way I thought I would. Turns out I prefer thinner blade hidden tang fixed blades, I guess.

I am in!what a generous offer
I have long lusted after this knife but unfortunately I always seem to be short on cash when they come about.

I bought this 77 from a fellow Canadian. Excited to find one in Canada, I sent off my money and waited. The knife comes and the wood looks so fancy. The shield very fancy. The bolsters still fancier. I currently carry an old saw cut delrin barlow and it is much more my style. I just can't seem to love this 77.

Yet another wonderful one of your GAWs!

I'd like to take part but since I have a Forum 15 Knife I suppose I'm ineligible...

Oddly enough, the knife I could not connect with was also a Canal Street, a full Trapper in D2 and jigged bone. Didn't get on with it at all, so I traded it long time back. Too boutique like to be credible, lame snap too!

I'm in! Great GAW! The one knife that really never worked for me was a GEC Beagle. Great F&F, etc.. just not my style. I prefer a Case Peanut when choosing a knife of that size.

I'm in. The one knife I never loved like I expected was a Kabar clone of the Buck 110. Like, I knew it was a quality knife, I just found myself using every other knife I had at the time. I gave it away on BF unused over a year ago.
