WINNERS ANNOUNCED!!! A GIVE-AWAY TO REMEMBER ROLAND PROCTER

What a great gesture on your part, Duncan, and a nice way to keep Roland's memory alive. The four blade senator is a really sweet knife. Four blade senators were one of Roland's favorite patterns to collect. Roland used to help me out by bidding on ebay for knives from sellers who would not ship to Canada. Roland would pick them up from his US post box and forward them on to me. I purchased quite a few knives from Roland. I use three of the fixed blades every hunting season to skin and butcher deer. Roland was always very interested to hear how well the fixed blades purchased from him performed.

What better way to remember Roland and that is to have a nice user of Roland's in your pocket that you aren't scared of using!
What a grand GA, Duncan!!! Very generous of you!! Roland was a wonderful Man, worthy of remembering!! This is not an entry, as I have several knives from him, and I enjoyed a long relationship with him, long after he left the Porch!!
Thanks for keeping his memory alive!!!

I would love to be considered.

I've had very limited interactions with Roland, but resulted in purchasing a Schrade+ 97OT from him (pictured here)...but that lead to even more Schrade frenzy 🤣...

I wasn't a huge Schrade collector until I got to chat with Roland about Schrades. He even gave me his phone number so I can call him and ask him about the knives...yes...he did 😅 Never took him up on that offer, but he definitely left me a great impression that he was genuinely a nice person!

Just in case some may not be aware, he was 'Kootenay Joe' and went by "kj" in another prominent forum...

Shame I didn’t know him. Old schrade are much to my liking. And that one pictured is pretty darn cool. The saw.... just right for an offending limb when hunting.

Very generous GAW Duncan. I’m going to throw my name in, I would be honored to carry any of these knifes that carry so much history. I just knew Roland through his post on another forum. Appreciated his knowledge and willingness to share it.

Sadly, I did not know Roland, but I love memorial giveaways. I really like the idea of using a gift to keep the memory of someone alive. I believe that as long as we keep making new connections and new memories with those we have lost, at least an echo of them persists in this world.

I am not in, I have had more luck winning giveaways lately than I think is fair, and I haven't been active enough in other threads. It's just a fact of life that there is never enough time or energy for everything. When I can be a more active presence I'll start entering the GAWs again. Thanks.

I did not know Rowland, but I have loved reading stories of his generosity and the culture he displayed here on the Forum.

I love that you guys shared such an interest and affection for Craftsman knives. I have a soft spot in my heart for Craftsman knives and remember growing up back in the 1900’s and going into Sears with my dad to get a tool of some kind. He would have to peel me away from the knife display every time!

It’s fun to carry Craftsman models that I can get cheaply off of eBay (even though it’s getting harder to find good stuff, and prices have gone up 🙄). It let’s me own and carry knives I was always too young to buy!

It’s fun to see these great knives - especially older jigged bone patterns. Thanks so much for holding the GAW! I’m in!

Not a knife from Roland- but thought I’d throw in a Craftsman photo for some eye candy.

Ernie - your in my friend
redsparrow- 🤣 you are in the draw !!!
DocJeki- Knowing Roland wasn't part of the requirements to enter- if you feel yo want to, and have read in the past- feEl free to come back and change your mind Sir.
That's okay, I want someone who felt that he was important to them to get it.

Roland was obsessed knife collecting as no one I've ever heard of. He definitely was not in it for the money. I'm thankful that Duncan bought many knives from him honorably. Roland was interested in all kinds of knives, 1000s, unfortunately he only had one farmer jack ! :) He's missed. I luckily found this Erickson knife before Roland made buyers an offer that they couldn't refuse , as he was want. I've got two of his knives, here's the other, let someone else have one.Henckels from Roland Proctor688.jpg

Thank you everyone so far, keep them coming in if you want a chance :)

I’m in. I didn’t know Roland. But this type of knife is where my ideals are. I’d much rather have something along this line than a new custom. A knife that’s been loved and used means so much more to me.
I forgot to mention you JM2, you of course are In!!

I know you are a generous soul, Duncan, but I will abstain from this GAW to give someone else a chance instead!

I’ve been enjoying this thread and went back to read Roland’s posts here and the other forum. A great mix of knowledge and saying what was on his mind. I’m in for a chance to carry a piece from his passion. Very nice GAW and remembrance.

I got to know Roland through AAPK and dealt with him several times, mostly buying Buck Knives. Last December he put up two Schrade Old Timers for sale (the larger two in my picture) and I bought them. They arrived first week of January, in typical Roland fashion the smaller four were ‘bonus’ knives he threw into the package. You will see one of the larger ones in Jack Blacks annual thread, as it has been in my pocket 60 - 70% of the time since its arrival. Not an entry, but this little story gives you a small glimpse of Roland and how he conducted himself. OH

I’ve never seen a small schrade lockback like that. Those all are in very nice condition thanks for sharing.
