WINNERS ANNOUNCED!!! A GIVE-AWAY TO REMEMBER ROLAND PROCTER

Not an entry and I never had the pleasure of meeting Roland. But it's great that he has friends that think enough of him to keep his memory alive. Good on you Duncan and there's Truly a fine group of people on the porch.

I personally did not know him but have enjoyed reading the posts speaking about the generosity of Roland. I do enjoy carrying a knife that has a history and story that comes with it so I'd love to put one of his knives in the pocket if selected. Please consider me in, thank you.

I am not too sure if all who have entered know I am in New Zealand, so with Christmas just around the corner sending these knives off to the other side of the World at this moment might be parcel suicide, so lets keep this running, I will bump it a wee bit now and then, and soon we will close it off and pick the winners- but my friends - you will probably have to wait for a while before I send them, and even then - it will take a few weeks to get to you- so.... the winners will slowly forget they won a Knife and then they will get a nice wee surprise.

I hope this is ok with everyone, in the mean time- have a great day folks and enjoy everything around you :)

Totally awesome, irrespective of the duration or situation.:thumbsup:

This time of the year absolute parcel suicide, especially where you will have to send them to.

Take as long as it takes. It will be what it will be.

I didn’t know you was in NZ. But, I’m cool with that. I have a friend that is from there. She’s a nice lady.

Is there any restrictions on knives there? To carry, or own?

No restrictions really - well.... no worse than a lot of States in America, we cant walk around Town with a Bowie Knife sheathed on our Belt, if a Cop pulled me up on a Knife- it would be the way I handle that situation to see if the officer wanted to charge me for carrying an offensive weapon- where if I explained about Traditionals - with my age would help- where as he wouldn't be so happy if a 16 year old have a pocket Knife.

Single edged BladeS are legal, no doubled edged Blades whatsoever - these are illegal to carry, double edged Blades will be confiscated by Customs if you try to bring them in. Customs will contact you and let you know the Knife will be destroyed if you do not bring in a permit by a certain date - so by then you should have seen your arms officer at your closest larger Police Station to show him / her photo's and and explanation of why you want the Knife - they then look into your background and decide if they are to give you a permit to have permission to bring it into the Country, then you wait for the permit to be sent to you by Police Head Quarters in Wellington.
I used to bring in Daggers etc- but I moved onto Pocket knives more so than the Dagger / Bowie Knife scene.

Thanks for the information.

Here in my state, Kentucky, Bowie’s are perfectly acceptable to carry most anywhere except most gov buildings and some private places that have no weapon signs. Course, open carry of firearms is legal here. We also have concealed carry without a license, though a license is available still for those that desire one. I maintain mine for travel. That license covers legal concealed carry of switchblades and similar knives. More restriction on knives than guns in that respect. But not restriction to purchase a switchblade, and none for carry with the license.

No sort of knives or guns are licensed except for machineguns, and what they call short barreled rifles and shotguns. (A rifle needs to have a 16” barrel and shotgun18”), which is federally not state regulated.

I'm sure we'd all be happy to pay for shipping if that is a lot for shipping halfway around the world.

I am in! Many times it is such that I do not learn of a great artist in many mediums until they have passed, and this is no exception, these slipjoints have serious character.
