I decided to take the plunge. Actually started Sunday, so a 6 day commitment. I haven't carried the same knife that many days in a row since I bought my second knife years ago...

Sunday night, white Oak Mission style table underneath stripped.

Monday night, mixed Danish Oil with some oil-based leather dye to finish match the legs on the table.

Thanks for the inspiration Jon, this is a fun experiment! I had thought I would choose a handmade but when I got into the knife box the choice became clear.
 
Day 2!!! Interesting day at work. Had 3 reported possible UXOs so had to dust off the ole land nav and map reading skills to go find them. Two old C ration cans and old fins from a training mortar round😂😂. It was fun to go hunt them down. Spey is riding nicely in the watch pocket.

Until today I've always used the Exec's large blade first, saving the smaller of the two for emergency appendectomies etc. ;) Truth be told, the Exec has never been called upon to perform any emergency medical procedures.
Tomorrow I'll test the large blade on an apple. If successful I'll switch to using the small blade first saving the large for food processing. 🤪 Thus the pic of Blue Exec's small blade with Ben Franklin in profile (eyes covered-incognito).

I went to a charity cafe nearby to treat myself to lunch,not much on the menu at all.

I ended up with what they called Vegetarian chilli 🌶 I called it vegetables and rice with no taste whatsoever. 😂

A mother and small child sat down near me so I couldnt even use my 15 nor take a photo untill outside.

The 3 year old girl was questioning everything in a loud voice,I could just imagine her shouting"mum whats that man doing with that knife" and everyone looking at me.🤭

Stll the blade shows how much I’ve used it.😎

Nice are you still serving,if so what unit/job?



On one exercise with armoured infantry I was working on a Ferret scout car engine when the CSM came up to me in his Land Rover.

He had collected a lot of dud 81mm mortar shells from live firing which where to be disposed of, he told me to keep an eye on them while he fetched more.

I was right out in the open, it was a comical/pitiful site.

I put them on the far side of the ferret while I lifted the louvres on the other side and tried not to lift my head up while my hands and arms worked on the engine site unseen draped over the armour.

If they had gone of I think we would have been lifted into space... 😇
