WINNERS CHOSEN! 5 DAY GIVEAWAY!!! User Challenge!

Today at the grocery store I began wondering... can an Exec's large blade section an apple??? I bought a Gala to find out. Then well after sunset I sat down here at Blade Forum and saw this thread. I decided since I was experimenting with slicing an apple I may as well attempt to take a pic of the Exec at night. Thinking, if it works out I'll enter this GAW for CelloDan CelloDan .
This is the first pic I've taken with my phone's camera after dark using only ambient lighting. It turned out OK so please accept this an "I'm in" for my friend Dan.

Until today I've always used the Exec's large blade first, saving the smaller of the two for emergency appendectomies etc. ;) Truth be told, the Exec has never been called upon to perform any emergency medical procedures.
Tomorrow I'll test the large blade on an apple. If successful I'll switch to using the small blade first saving the large for food processing. 🤪 Thus the pic of Blue Exec's small blade with Ben Franklin in profile (eyes covered-incognito).

My day at work was as uneventful as it can be. Tomorrow and Wednesday I will be sitting through vendor presentations for a new system we are looking at so I may use my knife to cut my throat, or at least stab myself in the knee so I can be excused…IMG_0756.jpeg

'The Rider' was about to call it an early night, until... the mail showed up with an unexpected package (unexpected because USPS tracking info is more, um, "malleable" this time of year... 🙄)

She zipped through the Tyvek® envelope like a sharp spoon through hot soup (what?) - and then doubled down on her efforts by serving as a tube popper for this Tidioute Cutlery #14 Barlow in Purple Sage Natural Bone!

The dog didn't really help at all - AS USUAL. Thankfully, The Rider is always there!

Kinda off topic, but here's what The Rider helped liberate from that claustrophobic tube:

Another package arrived this afternoon, so the 98 assisted in opening it.

I tried to think of a good way to use all the tools today, and the awl was giving me a hard time. Decided to shotgun a beer using the 98 to punch the hole. Good way to finish a long day at work.

Dinner prep was pretty typical. Used the 98 to cut open the sous vide bags and get the steak ready to sear. Decided to do a pan sear with butter, garlic, rosemary and a few spices tonight instead of the grill.

Then opened up a bottle of wine to pair. Used the can opener to cut the foil.

Final dinner plate, complete with steak knife.

OK, I'm late getting to this thread, but I'd like to give this GAW a try. I'll try to lay out some things that I'd like to do in my participation.

1. I'm going to use a Case chestnut jigged bone CV trapper that I got as a generous gift from 321Bandaid 321Bandaid on the day before Halloween. I've been using it as my primary food prep knife since November 1, so using it for the next 5 days shouldn't be too tough for me. What will be tough is that I don't often carry a full sized trapper, but I can certainly do that for 5 days, too, especially with a winter coat with big pockets.

2. I noticed that Chris is participating on my behalf, so I think it's only fair that I play for him.

3. Sorry, Chris, but you may not get the effort from me that you deserve! My daughter, her fiancé, and her dog arrived at our house from St. Paul MN last Saturday night, and they'll be visiting all week, including the 5 days of the GAW. We'll be trying to celebrate Thanksgiving, my birthday, and Christmas during that time, so I'll have more commitments than usual in terms of playing the gracious host, serving as a cooking and washing-up assistant, shopping for groceries, extra dog care, playing games and singing songs, and so on. I'm hoping I can still get some action shots of my trapper processed and posted throughout the week. (If I find myself running short on time for photos, I can always use some photos of the knife I took throughout November. Who's gonna know??;))

4. A word of warning about "use" of a knife. BF has taught me that many times a knife is used as a "prop" in photos for various themed threads on The Porch: Blades and Books, or Beverages, or Bling, or Food, or Tools, etc. So I'm very likely to use my knife in that way over the coming 5 days.

I’ll have to say it’s almost an exact copy of the GAW that Crazy Canuck did back in 2020 when I first joined the forum. Everyone picked one user that they had not used in awhile and used only that knife for a week. I loved it a ton and always said that I wanted to do one like it someday. Mike gave away one of the most generous pile of knives I’ve ever seen given.
I fondly remember Mike's GAW. It must have been March 8-14 in 2020; it was the week that COVID became a thing to my city. I'd bought an Imperial Kamp King at an antique store on Saturday March 7, I think, and decided on Sunday to use it for Mike's GAW. Trying to document my use of the knife over that first week of trying to cope with COVID and its consequences was one thing that helped me keep from going nuts with anxiety over what the heck was a happening in the world!

Jon, this is a very generous GAW! I also love GAWs that require participants to actually actively participate beyond saying "I'm in."
Best wishes to all the participants; I'm looking forward to seeing everyone's action shots of their chosen knife!:thumbsup::cool:

Here's a Monday photo for me. We went to dinner on Sunday to a brewery that's French-themed, including French-Canadian, I guess. I (and my daughter) ordered poutine there, and I took some of mine home. I had it for supper tonight (Monday), but I wanted to add some vegetables to it when I reheated it. I used my trapper to chop up some fresh broccoli (and gave a few little pieces of broccoli stalk to 2 dogs who were sitting on the floor next to me, watching me like hawks).

I then added a little frozen corn and nuked the vegetables for a couple of minutes. I then added the left-over poutine, stirred it up, heated it, and ate it.

It tasted great, as did the Vanilla Bean Porter that I had for a beverage with my meal.
