Dan Dan Dan,what is the reason behind this madness, for the love God man,get a puck on that table.and put some stomping tom on.and I'm going to pretend I ust didn't see this.

Birdsbeaks, back when I did smoke a pipe (40 years ago!) my favorite was MacBaron's Royal Twist. So right about the aroma; my uncle smoked some kind of cherry blend which smelled great, but when I tried it the taste was hot and bitter.

LOL 🤣 I know Oldy Oldy . How dare they ?

Those two would not settle last night and I did not sleep very well.

Slip joints these days , do not have a clue what hard work is all about.
They think peeling an apple is hard work
Back in my days , I tell you ....

That's it folks, they get no more caffeine after breakfast from now on

Jon, This has been a terrific GAW. As I usually carry one pocketknife and that one for two or three days, carrying one for a week was not all that unusual for me, but I enjoyed the focus on what I do with one (mostly mundane tasks) - and seeing how the rest of you use your pocketknives. OH

So, I recently quit vaping.

It's not something I like to admit I ever did publicly, but there you go. I was never one of those 'vape bros' who tried to blow the biggest clouds while standing in front of a motorcycle, a semi-tractor trailer, and a barbed wire fence at the same time - but it's still pretty embarrassing. In my defense, up until recently, I worked in the industry and there was pressure to sample the product - but since I no longer do, I figured it was time to quit.

I've never really been so great at quitting anything 'cold turkey' and so, in the interest of preserving the sanity of the poor girl I live with, I'm going back to smoking a pipe - not compulsively, just when I feel like it.

Anyhow, I pulled out my pipes and a stash of some Balkan I had hidden away, but I couldn't find any of my pipe tools. Fortunately, a spent .44 Remington Magnum case makes a great tamper and The Rider's punch an even better poker!

I'm so jazzed - I've even started getting a little bit of patina on the punch! 😍

Getting pipe-tobacco these days in Europe is ultra expensive and difficult. Not smoked this century...

Here's a nostalgia tin from a staple, but the Balkan Sobranie Flake in the beautiful Green&Gold flat tins was better but alas it vanished and I kept none of those tins.

I've been having Internet issues the last few days, so my apologies for my posts being terse. I've been trying to keep up with the thread though when I'm able to get on. I think I caught all 5 days, though not as much as I'd have liked too. Thank you for the JonMcD JonMcD for the fun GAW. My wife always laughs a little when I whip my knife out to cut something and then say... hold on, I gotta take a pic for the boys.

I will say, that I love the smell of someone smoking a pipe, particularly cherry or vanilla. I don't smoke it myself though, but I've always considered it. I tried cigarettes and didn't care for them. Cigars are more to my liking... but not much, perhaps a pipe. I do really enjoy carrying a Zippo.
All the fancy pipes and expensive tobacco in the smoke shops and nothing beats good old captain black and a corncob.

Your post sent me in search of a corncob bowl I made for my H. Wiebe 'Radiator' pipe.

As I packed it, The Rider looked on - but could offer no help but moral support!

What can I say? I enjoy a lengthy smoke! (...and that you need a coat hanger to poke around down in this one!! 🤣)

Edit - I just realized that "size comparison" is a perfectly legitimate use for a knife! 🤣

Setting some fence posts today so I wanted to set my nice lambfoot aside until later.

Edit: Oops, I posted this in the wrong thread. This was clearly my favorite thread all week so I’m going to blame it on you JonMcD JonMcD . 🤣

WHAT A GREAT WEEK!

Thanks for all the well wishes and encouragement guys. This definitely has been a fun week. It’s time for the results!

DISCLAIMER!
None of us need another knife! 😂 This is just a way to have fun and give back to a community that I love and respect. It’s my pleasure to be able to contribute a small bit of joy back to the Porch.

If you are one of the winners, please feel free to trade or gift your knife within the porch. Don’t feel bad if the knife doesn’t suit you or you eventually fall out of love with it. Pass the love around! Please do not sell these knives. I’d love to keep them in the Porch community.

Now…who won???

I had my boys help pick the top five.

Here’s a video of the process.

2. The second prize goes to the guy who met my direct request! C cello Dan Hey Dan, can we see some Chickadees??? And the man delivers. And then for extra measure, he tosses in stop motion magic. Well done Dan! The Viper is headed your way.

3. The last one goes to the humor instigator of the mix. Honestly. I had planned to give this one to Chris before the GAW, so this one is a bit rigged…but the Bandaid man was in the mix stirring it up every day. This Barlow is designed to turn your heart towards the beauty of spear points!
