WINNERS CHOSEN! 5 DAY GIVEAWAY!!! User Challenge!

The last 5 days have been entertaining and enlightening, thanks Jon!
You guys are hilarious.
The Blu Exec is useful and almost always enough blade but not always as much handle as I would like. Especially if I were to actually become a one knife only person. In 2022 I was a two knife only person for four months and I managed with ease. Those two knives were a Buck 110 and a Vic Spartan.
Truth is, this week I developed very strong yearnings for a fixed blade. I found myself thinking, this small can do it all but it sure is messy. :)
Of course I'll still carry folders but that's easy knowing I have access to other knives if needed. When it comes down to what knife best helps me care for myself... it's the one in the kitchen drawer.
As far as portable cutlery, the belt knife is still king and a big locking folder just makes that more convenient.

Here's a small fixer if combined with any one of the examples shown would make a good combo - Western Bird & Trout / Blu & Friends

edit; To eliminate a thumb studded example. Sorry, sometimes don't even notice them anymore.

Good luck to you all and thanks again Jon for a fun thread.

So, I recently quit vaping.

It's not something I like to admit I ever did publicly, but there you go. I was never one of those 'vape bros' who tried to blow the biggest clouds while standing in front of a motorcycle, a semi-tractor trailer, and a barbed wire fence at the same time - but it's still pretty embarrassing. In my defense, up until recently, I worked in the industry and there was pressure to sample the product - but since I no longer do, I figured it was time to quit.

I've never really been so great at quitting anything 'cold turkey' and so, in the interest of preserving the sanity of the poor girl I live with, I'm going back to smoking a pipe - not compulsively, just when I feel like it.

Anyhow, I pulled out my pipes and a stash of some Balkan I had hidden away, but I couldn't find any of my pipe tools. Fortunately, a spent .44 Remington Magnum case makes a great tamper and The Rider's punch an even better poker!

I'm so jazzed - I've even started getting a little bit of patina on the punch! 😍

Great pic 👍
I got such a chuckle out of you using a 44 case for a tamper 🤣

It’s been a fun week! I’ve enjoyed following along with everyone’s knife adventures. I didn’t have a lot of knife needs today, only opened a couple Christmas packages.

I thought I would be dying to get a new knife in the pocket by now, but I’ve really enjoyed using this lambfoot. Yep it says it right there on the blade, real lamb foot. There’s no ‘s’ in there anywhere, mystery solved! I need to clean up the edge and I’ll carry it through the weekend.

Monday is our 8th wedding anniversary, so I got one of her gifts wrapped early (I usually wait until the night before). Cutting wrapping paper is apparently where I draw the line using a knife, I used *gasp* scissors. I need to get these Lego ornaments put together for her sometime this weekend. Thanks again Jon and everyone that participated this week, it’s been a blast!

I had a .338 Lapua case that worked even better, but I think I liked it so much that I put it with my now missing pipe tools!

I reload (not .338 Lapua, because I don't have a rifle chambered in it... yet) so there's no shortage of cases around here.
Ha! My old man would get such a kick out of this. He's been reloading longer than I've been alive. He loves his 44's. He's been contemplating converting one of his old three screw 357 Blackhawks to a custom lightweight 44 special. I've been playing the devil's advocate & trying to push him over the edge & convince him to make the custom pistol he wants to do 😉

Shooting a 338 lapua is as much fun as going to the dentist, and cost just as much.but I did tear my rotator cuff in 77,so that's my story and I'm sticking to it

English guy or a Virginia guy? I am a sucker for a Virginia Perique myself. Escudo being my all time favorite.

Knowing that I'd be reloading for it and that sometimes I like to load some real screamers - I went straight for the overbuilt Super Blackhawk, but I can definitely see the value in a lighter and more handy configuration. Walking around with the Super is a lot like walking around with a very fun and loud cinder block. 🪨

Much like with 1911s, if a revolver is working well I tend to leave it alone!

Lest we get accused of wandering too far off topic, here's a pic of The Rider in a pre-JonMcD (much less patinated) state!

If I can get the Super Blackhawk to pose and sign a photo release (she can be temperamental...), I'll tag you!

Definitely English - love my latakia, especially in a meerschaum!

The Balkans are great because I feel like you can have it all - Virginias, orientals, perique, and more - plus, you get some smoky and leathery latakia in the mix!

I think my faves are, in order: Petersen's (formerly Dunhill's) Early Morning Pipe, Petersen's (also formerly Dunhill's) Nightcap, STG's Balkan Sasieni (harder to find than some GECs!!), and when I (rarely) want a boatload of vitamin N - I like (uncharacteristically) Cornell & Diehl's Haunted Bookshop!

I've been having Internet issues the last few days, so my apologies for my posts being terse. I've been trying to keep up with the thread though when I'm able to get on. I think I caught all 5 days, though not as much as I'd have liked too. Thank you for the JonMcD JonMcD for the fun GAW. My wife always laughs a little when I whip my knife out to cut something and then say... hold on, I gotta take a pic for the boys.

I will say, that I love the smell of someone smoking a pipe, particularly cherry or vanilla. I don't smoke it myself though, but I've always considered it. I tried cigarettes and didn't care for them. Cigars are more to my liking... but not much, perhaps a pipe. I do really enjoy carrying a Zippo.

The pipe-tobacco paradox I've found to hold true is that the blends that smell great to bystanders are often not so great for the smoker, and the ones that taste great for the smoker aren't usually as popular with bystanders!
