That’s awesome! The 86 was my second GEC. My first was the 92 Eureka. The 86 is a beast and is a hefty knife, but it is built like a tank and has such great walk and talk. I used and carried the heck out of it, mostly all food related just as you are doing. That big clip is well acquainted to a great steak. Glad you are putting it through its paces!!!Oh happy day! I've never purchased or received anything in the GEC family before.JonMcD , the 86 has arrived! I wish I was more patient, but I didn't get any unboxing photos. Thanks for the sleeve! Wifey made a nice ham dinner, and I wasted no time starting a patina on this beautiful clip blade.

Definitely will be a pocket companion. Thanks again Jon!
You aren't kidding about walk-n-talk. Smooth, firm pull that isn't excessive, and satisfying snaps open and closed. Near perfect finish and centering. No rub that I see, and feels good and solid in hand. I can't thank you enough! That’s awesome! The 86 was my second GEC. My first was the 92 Eureka. What Case model name/number is this knife? ThanksBoattale After following along on your adventures with Peckerwood, I convinced myself that I needed to find one. I had to get a used one, because I couldn’t find a new one in CV or 1095. So, it arrived in the mail today. I’m going to refrain from naming him as long as I can, but it’ll happen as soon as he bites me!

It’s the Case CopperheadWhat Case model name/number is this knife? Thanks
CV blades, amber bone scales. It’s the Case Copperhead![]()
Then that would be two of us. The 92 didn’t do it, but the 86 captivated me and slung me down the rabbit hole. Now the 44 takes the top billing as favorite GEC.So I touched up the edge, because that's part of how I get to know a knife. Boy oh boy, does that 1095 take a fantastic edge! I'll get some pictures tomorrow. Jon, you may have ignited an addiction.
Can't even cut a straight line. Sad.
Thank you I will be using it to plow my fields...
He’s definitely up to the task! That old 70s case steel takes a keen edge.Gus is one handsome 49 year old. I'm going to sharpen it until I can whittle feather sticks out of wet toilet paper.

That one is quite accustomed to the heavy patina. Now he can get geared up with some California citrus!![]()

Let some juice from my orange dry on the blade. Hard to capture the colors.
An 18 pattern Case Knife. If I was to only own one pocketknife (gasp!) to do it all, it would be a Case 18. OHGus is one handsome 49 year old. I'm going to sharpen it until I can whittle feather sticks out of wet toilet paper.
