A fearless Viper 🐍 crossed the border into 🇨🇦 today 😎

While we wait for a chance to go visit our chickadee friends I introduced it to a couple of feathered friends at home.

“Angel”, a White Capped Pionus who is not too sure about a viper being so close 😊

And “Tiki” (means waterfall in Japanese) who is a Green Cheeked Conure.

Tiki was most at easy with the Viper 😎
( but then again, even the cat is afraid of Tiki sometimes 😄)

The Viper, true to its name proved to be an incredible striker ⚽️
The Trapper had no chance whereas Viper was just unstoppable

The GOAT 😊⚽️

I miss my blue crown conure, but alas I was allergic to her and gave her to a good home (15 years ago).

I am afraid I can't 🧻 ... I just tried ... for real 😅

I used my homemade plates of glass over an aluminum backing to which I stuck the adhesive 3M aluminum oxide microfinishing films.
Just for kicks I worked though all the 6 grades this time, from 100 down to 0.3 micron.

I lubricate the film with mineral oil and also made sure to wipe/clean the film with a bit of mineral oil and a paper towel every time I changed sides.
I made sure as well to clean the knife often and specially when changing grits.

These films work well for 1095 and the other common steel found in traditional knives.
In no time I had reprofiled the blade to 17 degrees and raised the burr with the first 100 micron film.

For super steels I would use diamond plates and strop with diamond paste on leather ( I made a few stropping plates as well with leather instead of glass) but in all honesty I enjoy my traditionals and their more basic steels more :thumbsup::cool:
