Winter RAT's Nest

I don't know why I'm just now seeing this? I can't believe I missed it this long...

Oh well, doesn't matter anyway..saved myself 3 months of looking forward to something I couldn't do anyway. Would have been nice though. Y'all have fun.

Well, it looks as though I'm getting straight screwed out of my camping trip for the moment. Apparently my wife got her vacation scheduled for some of the time when I'm off in January, not remembering my camping trip. She only gets the one vacation a year. I got a call from my mom asking if I wanted her to cook anything special when we come to Memphis.

I said, "what the hell are you talking about?"
My mom said, "oh Sarah called and said she scheduled her vacation time for the time you're off and that you guys would come visit."
I said, "and when did she tell you we were coming?"
She said, "the 8th through the 11th."

I called Sarah and asked if she could reschedule her vacation. Unfortunately, now the schedule is filled for those days and she can't get on it. Man that shit really put me in an awkward position. On the one hand, I'm happy that she would schedule her vacation during such a crap time of the year just to be able to spend it with me. I can't be mad at her for that. On the other hand, she's totally robbing me of the camping trip I've been looking forward to for months now. So, the long and short of it is that i can't go that weekend. Sorry guys. I am definitely still wanting to do a camping trip so I'm going to try to pick out another weekend that I can go. I'm sorry if I'm putting anyone else out. This is one of those times where I would rather say, "sorry. I've got prior commitments and I'm sticking to them." but I like being married and I don't want to start dating again.

great idea for forum folks to get together, hell you all share your experiences online, why not meet and have a real adventure if you have the means.

If I had the coin to make it down, I'd go. Camping is for all times of year, cold weather just weeds out the riff-raff!

It also weeds out the chiggers, the mosquitoes, most of the ticks & fleas...

Winter camping is good camping. The fire feels that much better when it's cold out.

Dylan, No worries. I think it's just me and you anyways. Give me a call and we can reshedule this. I'm coming to Fort Gordon around the end of Jan and then I am moving in May to Washington state.

Maybe Johnspark and some other Georgia people can come and play too! Hell its only 2 days (Sat and part of Sun).

i was wondering why i hadn't heard anything about this lately :)

supposed to snow today! i got some new gear i really want to try out so hit me up when you guys decide on a day.

I love a good snow camp, as long as there is enough wood to burn. The last snow camping I did was with a group of 11 year old scouts. We had to carry everything in. Not a long hike, about 1/2 a mile, and we had to make at least 10 trips one way to get all the gear and fire wood in. I was so sore.

Too bad I am in the wrong part of the country.
