WIP Amature Knife

That kydex work looks awesome man. Terrific job. My kydex attempts looked like a kids wad of play-doh for quite a while before I ever turned out something that nice.
This has turned into a great WIP thread and a terrific knife. Cheers!

Thanks man, I practice making a sheath on a smaller knife right before I made this one, so I did have a little practice and knew what to expect. Im glad you like the knife. I have to admit it did turn out better than I expected. LIke I said though, I did have high expectations when designing it in my head before I got the materials.

Tonight, I put some jimpimg on the spine and it didnt turn out that great, but still functional and fairly aggressive. They are all straight (perpendicular to the spine) but as you can see, the area between them is not perfect. I can live with it though.

Took some pictures before I send it in for HT. And speaking of that, I think I will send it to Peters Heat Treat as per recommendation from people here. Could someone tell me about the process and what I need to do to prep the knife and what info to send with it? Thanks!

Just an update,

I ground the middle of the convexed blade down more so that now it is just about perfectly full flat ground. I packaged it up tonight to be sent to Peters Heat Treat. As I found out, they are located about 40 minutes from me. I requested a hardness of 59-60. Is this a reasonable hardness for s90v on a 4 inch, 4.5mm thick fixed blade, providing adequate toughness with fairly high edge retention? Would anyone recommend that I request 61 RC? I have read it is difficult to get s90v to this hardness, not to mention the loss in toughness.

Cant wait to sharpen this knife!
