I just sent you a PM and would appreciate if you could explain this to me. I thought this had been squared away, I even discounted the price of what it cost you to purchase that MO and the cancellation fee that the USPS charges. For those who are wondering what this is about, wired45 purchased a sheath from me last year on ebay and the MO he sent never got to my door (it must of been lost in the mail). I then had him send a paypal payment. Anyhow, I thought it was all squared away, he even left me good feedback both here and on ebay.

I have never screwed anyone over and take pride in the fact that I am open and honest with everyone that I deal with. Your MO had to have been lost in the mail, that does happened from time to time. All you needed to do was go cancel it at your post office.

If the above is accurate, it does not make any sense. Did he check with the USPS to see if it was cashed or was he OK with being able to cancel?

I have no idea how the MO not arriving issue can be attributable to you if it did get lost in the mail.

I expect Wired45 will comment soon

I do not know if he ever checked to see if the MO was ever cashed. After the transaction was finished, I told him that if the MO ever showed up at my house, I would let him know and send it back to him. It never did show up. I was never contacted after that and with the feedback he left, I thought everything was squared away.

The procedure for cancelling a lost/stolen MO can be found here, http://www.usps.com/missingmoneyorders/welcome.htm. You have to fill out some form and pay a $5.00 fee (which I deducted from the total price of the sheath as well as the ~$1.00 MO fee). The total amount of the transaction before I discounted it was around $30.00. I assume that you need to present your receipt and/or stub from the MO when you file a claim.

If he threw out or lost his receipts, I can not be held responsible for that. Sabotaging my for sale thread was not right, he should have contacted me if he still had a problem.
 
Sorry about listing that .I bought a sheath and sent a postal money order .two or three weeks later i had to pay with paypal.never heard back about my missing money order ? Its not the money its the point on having to pay twice for one item .And never a word back from seller . Should have posted in different area.sorry.

Didn't the PO return your money when you canceled the MO? What did their investigation turn up?
 
wired45 sent me an apology via PM. As he stated above, he was frustrated because he paid twice for said sheath. It sounds like he was waiting for me to receive the MO and then send it back to him. I figured that it had been lost in the mail, as I have never received it to this date. As I said before, I also assumed he went to the PO and cancelled it, due to the positive feedback he left me after the transaction was finished.

So what it basically boils down to is a big misunderstanding that reared its ugly head 4 months after the fact, lol. Wired45, I'm not one to hold any grudges, so grab a beverage of your choice and here's a big cheers from the other side of the continent!:thumbup:
 
I would like to offer the advice of keeping ALL your money order paperwork till the deal is DONE. It can be used as proof of payment for goods not recieved or in this case to get a refund from the money order issuer. If wired45 takes the paperwork to the issuing office they could track the mo or issue a refund. But of course they can't help at all if the MO# and receipt no longer exist. If the payment never arrived how could El Toro be responsible? I believe that since wired45 took this public he apology should be done publicly too. The open accusation can only do harm to El Toro's rep.

I'll toss out what I do, it's pretty simple but works. I keep 2 envelopes in my desk, one labeled "In Transit" and one labeled "Arrived".

ALL Money Order, Delivery Confirmation, Postal Insurance or other related papers and receipts go in the "In Transit" one, until arrival is confirmed, then I move them to the "Arrived" one, where they stay for at least 12 months.

wired, I'd appreciate if you can post publicly that this has been sorted out. I've had two deals fall through, and I don't doubt your comments were a major contributing factor. This needs to be straightened out publicly, because my reputation has been tarnished.
 
I still paid twice for same item . Not trying to pull anything just don't like paying double for anything . If you are going to sell an item where ever and accept paypal then post it . I didn't like the way this went down and still don't . Thats why I will only pay paypal or sent usps money order to people i have traded with in the past . I'm willing to bet I'm not the only one this has happened to .Maybe I'm one of the only ones to make it public . I own and operate a small business send mail and packages out on a daily basis ,I guess I'm lucky that I can count the number of packages that don't make it to the right people. If I'm wrong , again I'm sorry . I should never of posted in your thread .Gerry
 
Wired45, did you attempt to locate or cancel the MO? Had it been cashed? If so, by who? I don't mean to sound harsh, but there are some pretty tough insinuations/accusations in your last post and would be nice if you can clarify what you've done on your end. I can understand being upset about being out the money, but I can NOT understand trampling someone elses name without any good reason, which you have not shown.

Well, I guess that's it folks. I don't have anything else to add to what I have already posted. I only got paid once as the MO never showed up to my door. I have no control over the way the mail system works. If he didn't go to the Post Office and get a refund for the lost MO, there's nothing I can do about that. I just wish he would have brought this up 4 months ago instead of ruining two possible deals I had now. All I can say is look at my feedback (both here and ebay), it speaks for itself.
 
Wired45, did you go to the post office with your receipt and ask them to refund your money?

If so, what was the result? Had the money order been cashed? With what signature?

If not, why not, and why do you blame anyone but yourself?
 
Wired you may have paid twice but you only paid the seller once. It's on you to search out the lost MO and do what you must to get the USPS to cancel and refund your money. No one else is responsible for recouping on the lost MO but you.

Just go to the PO with the reciept stub from the top and ask them to see if it's been cashed. This is a very simple first step..........

wired, if you receive (or have received) info that the MO has been cashed please shoot me a PM or e-mail. I also I ask for you to leave my personal info (full name, address, etc.) private. Did you send it via standard 1st class mail or Priority Mail with confirmation? I live on a street that gets a lot of foot traffic and have had the USPS leave signature confirmation packages on my door step before without knocking. My street is also on a training route, so it may have also been erroneously delivered to one of my neighbors (I receive their mail by accident on occasion). If the MO had been cashed locally we can solve this easily by comparing the endorsement signature on the back of it to my own. This would mean that my mail has been tampered with and we would have to get one of our local Postmasters involved. I'm just speculating here as it all depends on what info you got from the post office.

I also want to add that I didn't start this thread to bash on you. I just want to get this solved and my name cleared ASAP.

Edit to Add: If you can provide me with the MO number from the stub, I would be more than willing to check this out for you tomorrow at my local post office if you don't have time to do it yourself.
 
wired45, I really don't understand what you have to complain about. What was El_Toro supposed to do, contact you every few days to tell you that he still hadn't received the money order. He can't do anything about your lost money order. Only you and USPS can get it sorted out. El_Toro did absolutely nothing wrong.
