women and knives, are we freaks?

Old thread, but I thought it would be cool to get my ol lady’s blades out and snap a pic or two. This is what she carries:

She’ll grab one of mine once in a blue moon, and she’s welcome to anything I own. She’s got good taste except for that ganzo over there on the left. 😆😬 That’s an N690 Mikov…

My late mom carried a Victorinox floral knife in her purse for decades, long after she stopped working at a flower shop, and throughout her time working for the DA's office. She retired in the late 1990s.

She told me a story about the one time she and my aunt visited Japan, to take my grandma back to live out the rest of her life there, and to meet relatives we never knew. At the airport, she said the Japanese security guys seemed mystified by her little Victorinox floral pocketknife in her purse. Then she said they were laughing like it was the funniest thing they'd ever seen; a woman carrying a knife. They gave it back to her and let her go through.

That was back in 1984. Of course, now it's impossible to carry a knife on a plane. I still have that knife. I can't bring myself to carry or use it, because it was HER knife.

BECAUSE THE PERSON YOU ARE REPLYING TO, THE OP, HAS NOT BEEN ON THE FORUMS FOR 16 YEARS. So that's how it's relevant.
WOW, THATS A LOT OF CAPS..

Don't really see a problem with someone replying to a Necro account or thread, as long as they are bringing up to date relevant info or opinions, which I think V VorpelSword did. Especially if it helps to spawn more relevant discussion between members (which is the whole point of a forum anyways). I thought his experience he talked about was pretty interesting.

Although his words of encouragement at the end may not help a 16 year inactive member, they could possibly help the next person who read's it. Who knows 🤷‍♂️

Just my .02 cents

My ex carried a pink Kershaw shuffle. I wouldn't trust her with anything bigger after I saw her perfectly bifurcate a tree spider with my BK-5. Plus anything more expensive she probably would have pawned...

Well he obviously didn't understand that the person he replied to wasn't active, so I had to speak louder.

It's cool that you still have her knife. I still have the Gerber LST that I gave my mother. She admired it when I used it one day, so I gave it to her. That was over 30 years ago. Now I keep it with the other knives that have a personal history with me.

I gave my then-future-wife a Dragonfly for her first birthday gift from me. Now she has a small collection and keeps a knife handy all the time. We went to a knife store a few years ago and she bought a Hammer Brand jack knife, while I left empty handed.

This thread popped up in "What's new" so I figured I would reply.

My woman is a knife freak and proud of it. I knew her for several years before we started dating and I never knew she was a knife person. One day at work we were talking and she started lacing her shoe that had become untied and I noticed she was wearing a little United Cutlery karambit boot or ankle knife. To say the least I was aroused. lol! We started dating not long after. Not because she carries a knife. But it was a good ice breaker for me to pursue her further.

I have bought her many gifts over the years and she has liked them all, but nothing brings out the glimmer in her eyes like a new knife. :)

Well, my wife isn't a knife freak but she doesn't question my collection and will judge a knife based on merits like ergonomics and eye appeal. But what did floor me was that I discovered by accident that my sister is a knife enthusiast. She's in the 70's and is the church lady type who can barely find a hood latch or turn a screw. And yet just the other day she saw a knife sales catalog that I got in the mail and she enthusiastically thumbed through it and she asked to borrow it because she wanted a couple of knives including a fixed blade with an American flag theme. That's when I discovered that she had a collection of about a dozen knives!
