Won't ship to N.Y. .... always a bummer :(

I'd like to buy this knife, the price is the best I can find online + free shipping... but they won't ship to N.Y. :grumpy:

I happen to currently live in N.Y. and unfortunately there are are few sites/sellers/online retailers that refuse to ship there.
While it's certainly their prerogative of where and whom to sell/ship to... it can be a total drag every time I encounter this issue.
Yes, I know... the state I happen to live in has it's head up its A** when it comes to Knives/Knife rights/Gun rights etc.
But it's just a bummer every time I find something nice at a great price... and can't get it! (and I don't know anyone in Jersey I can have it sent to).
What is it that's intimidating these sites from shipping to N.Y.?
I'd like to understand what they are afraid might happen, or could happen to them, I'm not buying automatic knives... just simple folders or a fixed.
I have no problem purchasing from Combative Edge, RMJ Tactical, Cuttlery Shoppe, Knifeworks, knifecenter, Amazon, Ebay, and at least another half a dozen I have done business with.
They obviously have no issue with shipping to N.Y.

Just venting... :(

If other retailers ship to NYC and have no problems why do these retailers decide not to is beyond me.
 
This is exactly the reason why I support kniferights.org and strongly suggest you do too. They currently have a lawsuit pending against the city and the DA Vance.

If you go to their website you can read all about it. I know how much this sucks and sucks big time. At least they are trying to do something about it.
 
When you say NY, what exactly do you mean ? I ask this because i also live in NY---Western NY, Buffalo area to be exact. Most people think NY is all just one big city. It is NOT. It is the 5 boroughs that are included in the knife laws, NOT the entire state (at least that is my understanding). Try explaining that to them (if you don't live in NYC or the 5 boroughs). I have purchased from GP Knives within the last year. It was not a folder though.

The reason they are afraid to sell here: At one time, the Gov & Att Gen sent letters to all of the big internet knife sellers, stating that: If a crime is committed with a knife that you sold them, & we can prove it, we will come after you with everything we got for a liability/civil lawsuit. It is simply bully tactics/scare tactics. Only a Tyrant would do this. That is like punishing one of your children for something someone else did, makes no sense to me. But it seems lately that people are no longer to blame for anything. It is more popular to blame what ever inanimate object they used for the terrible, horrific crime they committed, when they should be blaming the person. SAD. Thats what happens when morons get elected. :mad:
 
agree. sad but true. Even more appalling is most of the officials are appointed not elected.
 
Most custom purveyors will not ship to NY. Risk vs. Reward. Contact your Representatives. Contact them again. Join Knife Rights . ORG
 
If I was a gun or knife manufacturer, there are several states I could think of that I would refuse to ship to or even allow sales to. Just to show my support for the constitution.
 
Email sent! Dealers are still scared of that slime Vance huh?! What a waste of time and money on the DA's office!! You can have a 12" Chef knife shipped to the 5 boroughs buy not a SAK! Most crimes committed with knives are not done so with your Benchmade Griptillian or your Spyderco Millie but with your cheap old kitchen knife! Makes a lot of sense doesn't it.
 
I put in all of my online auctions I will not ship to New York or Illinois. it is just not worth the risk if they catch you doing it. sorry. I am a little guy. I don’t have the money like the bid knife company’s do.

In what way would that be supporting the constitution?
 
I've been puzzled by a few sellers who won't ship things to certain specific locations... Even when those items are completely legal in the area they won't ship to!

For example, browsing Cold Steel's website, they will not ship their double-edged "Nightshade" plastic daggers and boot knives to Canada, but they are fine shipping the single-edged ones to Canada. There's no law against daggers and they should get through Canadian Customs just fine, and there's no law against plastic knives, either, so why won't they ship those specific models?



Not that I want one of those things :p but I was puzzled at the reasoning behind it.
 
It's not illegal to own, and as a resident, I CAN legally purchase it, so there's no reason not to ship to NYC. Those dealers are sheep. Companies like TrueNorthKnives that claim to "support" kniferights, but meanwhile go against the very policies that kniferights organization is trying to uphold. "We think DA Vance's actions should be stopped, but meanwhile, we'll deprive NYC citizens of their right to purchase a knife, just like he wants." That makes sense...

Richard, can you kindly tell me what the actual "risk" is?
Can you be arrested and jailed as if you sent an ounce of Cocaine to me????
I'm always asking the 1 out of 10 Ebay sellers that have stated in their auction; "will not ship to N.Y." even though N.Y. is not the same as N.Y.C. the law/s are completely different outside N.Y.C.

As I mentioned... not only did I not vote for him when he first ran for office.... I can't stand the sound of his voice.

I just got off the phone with both Benchmade, I sent a knife in to them to get a new blade put on and KnifeWorks.... I purchased a Doug Ritter Mini Griptillian., all the Women I spoke to/delt with in both companies could not have been more friendly and helpful!!!
And no "WE DO NOT SHIP TO N.Y." issue!
