Wooden Wednesday - Traditionals only please

Glad I could entertain you, Colin. :D That's what happens when I don't get enough sleep! :(

I also can't resist commenting on these fabulous knives posted in the past couple of weeks.

James, that cannitler is a dreamboat!!:thumbup::thumbup:
(And the 237 serial number is quite remarkable, too: 2, 3, 7. 23, and 37 are all prime numbers  although 237 itself is not. :()

Thanks GT!
I have always appreciated my cannitler  but your post makes me like it even more. Your perspective on Dreamboat's number makes her seem more valuable, almost stately. Also thanks for the name, "Dreamboat"... henceforth thus she shalt be called, kind Sir. :)

Pretty sure I need one of these.

Glad I could help you enhance your relationship with your first-rate cannitler, James! :D
I have a real affinity for the canoe pattern and its variations, and when I encountered a cannitler, it was love at first sight! I haven't acquired very many yet, but I suspect eventually I will.

Not much love for the wood today? Got this ADV Pocket Butcher in birch recently, so far I'm liking it :). Great for breaking down boxes n such.

That looks like a Hiroaki Ohta OFF, I think I see his name at the end of the handle.

Tada!

Once I decide it's a keeper I may round off the corner on the spine a bit and add a swedge for a more traditional Wharncliffe style and to make it a little more pocket friendly.

~Chip

It is certainly overbuilt by traditional standards being 1/8" at the spine but I'm finding it makes a great "utility" companion to my Ohta whittler for things I wouldn't necessarily use that for. Completely worthless for apples though ;).

Love the ebony. Pic from a few weeks back before the snow was flying.

Pretty nice piece of Exhibition Grade Turkish Walnut on this Skinner. I traded Butch Searcy of The American Double Rifle Co for some of his stock cutoffs. This walnut is from that trade.
