I have often suspected that most of the ebony used by GEC is macassar. Usually the scales are solid color, either dark brown or light brown. But these, especially the one in the middle, really showcase how beautiful macassar ebony can be if you have scales that show some stripes.

I carry a bunch of knives for a week at a time, and usually rotate for the new week on Sunday evening or Monday morning. So I usually don't even think about Wooden Wednesday. But this week I happened to notice the thread and I also happen to be carrying a couple of knives with wood covers this week, so I'll post them here. What a fortuitous coincidence!:D
I have a JJ Martinez navaja de campaña from Granada, Spain and an EC Simmons Keen Kutter that Markesharp gifted me. I thought the Keen Kutter was a spear point blade with ebony covers, but thanks to info from a couple of BF members, I now know that it was originally a spey blade with cocobolo covers and steel liners!

I also can't resist commenting on these fabulous knives posted in the past couple of weeks.

CSC Cannitler in reclaimed American Chestnut
James, that cannitler is a dreamboat!!:thumbup::thumbup:
(And the 237 serial number is quite remarkable, too: 2, 3, 7. 23, and 37 are all prime numbers  although 237 itself is not. :()
