Wooden Wednesday - Traditionals only please

I actually thought to take a pic before I left the house today...

"Whittlin" wooden Wednesday

Nice Grinling!

I've moved the post that I mistakenly put in this thread over to the Totin' Today thread where I intended it to go.

Sorry for my confusion; I hope I didn't infect anyone else with it!:(

Nice, Ron!!:thumbsup::thumbsup: Is the ebony 73 new-to-you? I certainly remember your OO 73, but not this ebony. What a wondrous wooden Wednesday notable pair those two knives would make!!:thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:;)

Texas Jack (and dog) is lookin' great, Bill!:cool::thumbsup:

Magnificent, majestic, marvelous knife!!:thumbsup::cool::cool: You keep posting it, and I'll keep admiring it! :D

Rousing Remington scout, Leslie!:cool::thumbsup: (I sure like the pond that shows up in many of your photos.;))

Congrats on promoting your Bull Nose to a user, Barrett!:cool::thumbsup:
So you're finding they use more road salt in MN than in AZ??:D

Notable pair of 77 Barlows, Harry!:thumbsup::cool: I had forgotten about the brown sawcut you have; you also have a red sawcut Northfield Barlow too, right?

Fabulous job of lamb-inating that Navy knife, TK!!:thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

Welcome to The Porch!! :) Fine pic of a killer knife!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Primo pairs, Jake(x2) & Jeff & Ron!:cool::thumbsup: (Jeff, I see that the knife from you has been delivered to my campus mail services building, so I'm hoping I'll get it in the afternoon mail!:cool::p:thumbsup: Thanks!)

Very cool, Ace!!:thumbsup::cool: IMHO, the Texas Jack pen blade "makes" the knife!:thumbsup:

Cool couple of Camilluses, deltaboy!:thumbsup::cool: Is the one on the left a 21?

I enjoy reading your thoughts on knives, Stuart!:thumbsup::cool: Thanks for the positive comments on the ones I posted; RR's gunstock checked bone is incredibly attractive IMHO. I think I'm attracted to almost any regular, geometric cover pattern: e.g., Victorinox Alox and checkered wood, bone (including some recent GEC #78s), ivory.

Thanks, @Anothername ! :)

Those pancake races must have been thrill-a-minute competitions (that put old-time wrestling to shame)! ;) Your opinion on romance, Valentine's Day, and Pancake Day seems like it has the potential to have resulted in some negative repercussions over time!:D Kid care definitely requires lots of energy; I still volunteer in my church's nursery once or twice a month, but I make sure that I serve in the room with the youngest kids, most of whom can't walk yet; I'm much more confident in my ability to keep up with children with limited mobility!
I'm always a fan of Jack Black's Dual Black Jacks Days!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

That's a pretty pair of pen knives, r8shell!! Someday you should post a trio that also includes your red White Owl (or maybe you should find an ebony White Owl ;))!:cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

That's a distinguished duo, Shawn!! :cool::cool::thumbsup:

Congrats on a quality quintet, Aaron!!:thumbsup::thumbsup::cool::thumbsup: Five fantastic knives! Which of the trappers do you prefer, the 1-blade or the 2-blade?

My Alox Knife for this week is a black Pioneer:

Thanks for the kind words on my 77 Barlows GT .
I actually have 2 if the 77 Barlows with Red Sawcut Bone and one 25 Barlow with the Red Sawcut Bone .
Take care my friend . You are probably counting the days now ??????

Harry

Thanks, GT! Love the shield on that GS Camp Knife. That's an interesting slip for your Pioneer. Is there a story behind it?

Thanks for the compliment on my Ebony 73 and my Wednesday pairing as well! :) The Ebony 73 is from the 2013 run the OO 73 is from the 2015 run. I bought the OO first in 2015 then I also bought the Ebony later that year if my memory serves me correctly! I got them both on the exchange. Next Wednesday I'll post a duo! :D

Thanks, GT. Since we are on the "Wooden Wednesday - Traditionals only please" thread (of which I was oddly, but obviously oblivious), I will post some traditional wood-handled coke bottle hunters. Left to right: Continental Cutlery Co.; Ulster Knife Co. NY; Hammer, Hammer Brand; Hammer Brand, New York Knife Co., Walden; U V B, Hibbard Spencer Bartlett.

I knew you had red sawcut 25 and 77, but wasn't sure about a 2nd red sawcut 77. Thanks for the correct info, Harry! :)
I'm not exactly counting the days (assuming you mean until my retirement), but I'm certainly aware that some things I'm doing for the final time. I'll miss some of those things/people a lot :(, and others I'm very thankful to be done with. :)

Thanks, GT! Love the shield on that GS Camp Knife. That's an interesting slip for your Pioneer. Is there a story behind it?
Thanks, Shawn. :) That slip is part of the webbing from an old baseball glove. I was tearing the glove apart with the thought of repurposing some of the leather to try my hand at making a strop and/or a sheath or two. I realized that a "cross piece" in the webbing was really a piece of leather folded and sewn, and all I needed to do was remove some stitches to get a nice slip for relatively long knives. I also punched a couple of holes near the top and put some leather lacing through, and now I can wear it like one of @Horsewright 's "Buckaroo" sheaths.

Thanks for the history, Ron! Looking forward to the "notable pair". ;):thumbsup:

Phenomenal quintet of coke bottles, Stuart!:thumbsup::cool:
You weren't the only one oddly but obviously oblivious (very cool phrase, BTW :D:thumbsup::thumbsup:) of being in the Wooden Wednesday thread! I had no intention of posting my comments on a bunch of posts from the Totin' Today thread here, yet somehow it happened! I think I've got everything located properly now.:confused:

Here's some wood from my kitchen counter:

Will Power Will Power That's a stunning piece of wood. Is it walnut?

@joeradza Alan, that is a mesmerizing piece of burl. I love finding "faces" in wood grain, and I can see quite an angry fellow in your piece.

My Osage handled @JK Knives Bluegill is absolutely singing in this sunlight.

Good gear that Osage!

My knife is not Walnut but Red Maple Burl, or so says the BRKT box:D

Thanks, Will
