Wooden Wednesday - Traditionals only please

A couple of really nice wood handled beauties this week. I, on the other hand, am carrying this oak handled Case SBJ again:

burnside - That #68 seem sthe perfect companion to go with a knife. I think this frame, with its equal end really befits a spear main.....which is slightly annotyiing 'cos my White Owl has a clip!

I have my Aitor Castor Pequena with me again today....

what are the dimensions of that Castor? Very interesting pocket knife. Do you find it too bulky or just right?

Thanks for the added ( excellent BTW) pic Edmundo:thumbup:
This one really interests me, as I have been looking at the Grohmans for quite a while...now that folder may have just pushed me over the edge:)

I hope you go ahead and enjoy.

that's a beauty

Thanks, I saw one posted here a good while back and liked it so well, I started looking for one. It took me a long time to run across this one. I didn't hesitate. I think the oak covers look very nice myself. Of course there's that fellow that posted a maple trapper back a bit in this thread. Very nice as well.

Nice job! This classic design gets overlooked over here in the Trad forum. Totally traditional and maybe the classic Canadian folder, at least Eastern parts eh? :) Oh and the min version is new. Both sizes are obviously built for the woods.

Yes very much so.. they are definitely not built to sharpen pencils. The pattern is fantastic, 4 inches is a tad bit on the larger side for me but it is not huge

Thanks Edmundo. The Castor is a great little knife. Its based on the Spanish 'Navaja' design, the handle is great and the blade has proved shape a joy in the kitchen. You can see why I am equally as drawn to the Grohmann's eliptical blade (I caved last night btw ;)).

This Castor is the 'Pequena', the smallest offering, and is listed as having a 7cm blade and an overall lenght of 15.5cm.

Last night I polished it up with Carnauba wax, to give the beech handle a bit more protection from moisture.
If I was to but another, I'd definitely opt for the Bubinga version, as per the one I gifted to Jack Black.

I've nothing but praise for this little knife, at first the leaf-shaped blade looked a bit odd to me, but it's actually very practical. The lock-up is really solid too. Great knife. Thanks again mate :)

Sounds like a great utility blade for sure. The Grohmann's blade is a saber grind but it still does a great job in the kitchen

I don't recall seeing any of that from GE before, is that lignum vitae by any chance? It's a beauty, whatever it might be!

Thanks Bonky. Yep its lignum vitae but this one took a little work to get it this way. It started its life out as this Glitter Gold jack and a red bone barehead trapper but I had the main blades switched and the covers changed. The barehead jack is now covered in black canvas micarta. I'd love to see GEC come out with more #48 jacks but with the long thin clip blade like the Schrade 294s.
