Barry, Your Barkie is soo SWEEEET & WICKED! Is the Conductor also DIB? I've never seen that wood on a GEC and would like to get some folders to match up with some of my other DIB fixed blades.

A custom F1 from Bark River

Great looking Barkie!!

I can't speak to Barry's #33 but afaik, GEC only used DIB on 3 #73 pattern knives in 2007 as part of a Factory Test Run. I was lucky to win the middle one in a dream knife contest that Mike Latham held. The #12 and #61 are knives I had rehandled in DIB.

Was it a commissioned piece Paul?

I have some offcuts of bog oak that are asking to clad a wee sgian.

Yes it was commissioned about six weeks ago for me to wear at my wedding. It's SF100 steel with ebony handles, blue vulcanised fibre liners and brass bolsters and pins. I love the wave design he files into the spine of his work.

Ah, I remember you mentioning it now, from the discussion with JB about the steel.

Tis jolly nice. Best of luck for the big day too!

Tom, Trand is correct in that GEC has never done a run in DI or DIB. :grumpy: Trand, you are a very lucky boy to apparently have the only factory piece made. Congratulations! Actually, Tom, the 33 is snakewood that doesn't have the usual 'snake skin' figure. Instead, it looks more like DI, but a little redder in color. Here's the knife:

Even though it doesn't have the figuring, it's still real purty....

Trand, You have some beautiful blades. Very, VERY nice! Thanks for sharing them with us.
Barry, thanks for showing your 33, I thought that it may have DI or DIB.

Thanks for the kind words guys. I felt really lucky when Mike had said I had won. We had to make a list of 3 knives that we wanted from 2007 and if we won and he had it, he would provide it as the prize. This one was #1 on my list.

Trand, the re-handled #12 and #61 are beautiful. May I ask who did the work?

Thanks Greg. I sent you a PM as I don't believe he is a member here or one with a craftsman membership. There are folks on this site who I believe can help you out as well in the exchange/craftsman section.

Most of my stuff is still in boxes at the moment, so these are my only kitchen utensils for now ;)

^^ They look just perfect for the taking on those tasty morsels.

Enjoy!

They did just fine :). I think I could live off bread and these things for the rest of my life.

I just finished unpacking my box with all the knives...
At least I got my priorities straight :D
