Wooden Wednesday - Traditionals only please

Love that top one!! Really nice!

The only knife with wood handle I'm carrying this week is this Italian CEM agricultural sheepsfoot with bubinga covers:

Love the blade on that one and looks comfy in hand!

Beautiful! Love that hollow sabre grind. Is that olive wood?

Bog Oak clad

Really interesting blade combo! Looks very useful to me. How is it in hand with the hawkbill/modified sheep foot closed?

Another French one today for me

Thank you. You notice the feel of the hawkbill, but it doesn’t prevent the grip from being solid when the Bowie blade is deployed. My only issue is the nine pull with either blade…But it’s only been a drawer sitter and I’ve never tried a proper cleaning and lubricating. All in all, it’s a very solid knife.

The handle of this Mickael's Piedmontese is very beautiful. 👌

Thanks, Steve. :) My Italian sheepsfoot is a big, solid, inexpensive knife that I like a lot. I really ought to pull out some sandpaper and try to get the handle more symmetrical (if I set it down on its right side, it rolls onto its back), but the thick (almost) round handle feels very good as is.
I like the looks of your knife; very cool handle shape!:cool::thumbsup: What's that little "lump" of metal on the back of the knife just behind the pivot?

It's a 2 nails knife with the pièmontais system, it's the "lens" that allows to open the knife with one hand and according to the grip to block the opened blade with a finger

Thank you! This one is amboyna burl. I saw one of these with an albaceteña blade, but it had been sold already. Very unique but recognizable knives!

Thanks Gary! Looks like Corto_Malt Corto_Malt beat me to the explanation.

I find myself using the inexpensive knives a lot and don't feel guilty about modifying them. I don't think you need to do anything to this one!

Much better picture of the twisted metal 'tab' than I have. Moing does excellent work!! You have quite a collection of beautiful knives!

This one is not mine, I put a link to an image on his site. 🙂

Both mine

Nice knife, where does it come from?
I don't know this name Camembert (except for the delicious raw milk cheese)

Thank you for the compliment. It is a French regional knife that was commissioned by a mayor of the same city the cheese is made. It's even delivered in a similar container as the cheese

It was designed by the late Guy Vialis, who did not pull the prank up to using galalith! (true camembert cheese uses only raw milk). 😺
Not easy to create a new "traditional" pattern, but he succeeded to make something æsthetic and different.

Belated thanks for your kind words, Steve. :)
I was staring again today at the French knife you posted last week. Such attractive wood (olive wood is my guess) and an unusual blade shape that reminds me of a Taramundi I got in Sevilla, Spain:

I always love seeing that Taramundi of yours, GT! The wood on it is really cool. (The first few times I saw you post it, I actually thought it was some sort of tortoise shell.)

Beautiful knife! I’ve been more than fortunate when it comes to Eric’s knives so far, but the ironwood is one I missed out and and wish that I hadn’t.

Thank you. It's a great looking knife and fortunate to have it thanks to another BF member. I recently picked up it's matching fixed blade to boot. Eric's other choices like the cork oak and hempwood look just as amazing. I think I remember you posting a nice mix of wooden covers. You really can't go wrong!
