What is this knife?

This antique NYKC Hammer Brand two-blade jack knife, made after 1885 but before 1900.
Both blades were hand reground to a shallow convex with a ~30 degrees inclusive microbevel.

Blades were hand forged from crucible steel:

Old image of the New York Knife Company situated on the Walkill River:

I found this knife on an open air antique market in my home town on the bottom of a cardboard box filled with worn out junk knives, and it was inside the blue leather pouch also in the pics, which most likely kept the wood well protected.
Paid the massive amount of 10 Euro (about 10 US dollars) for it.

The steel grinds & sharpens quite easy like most 1095 steel, but it keeps a keener edge for longer.

Amazing find and thanks for the background too. Why do I never find anything for 10€ in the way of knives ? o_O;)

I like the restoration job you've done on it (or was it in that nice condition when you bought it?) It's excellent to have an old knife back in a condition where its merits can be appreciated and not some festering husk... I'm absolutely not of that "Don't touch it at all school. The rust is its heritage..." I think fellow forumite Primble Primble would admire this knife and the way you present it too.

Going back & forth for some years about this. The Coco Ram Foot (right) is a beautiful example but I've yet to take it into use. Why? Well I have many users already and it might be a shame to start using this only to find It's not really suited. Why mess up a MIT (not the Uni...) that could be good trade or sale item. But then...the Coco will lose its lustre and go darker with use, so... And NO I'm not sending it to you to give me peace of mind 🤣

I'm going to at least put it in a pocket....it is Wooden Wednesday after all.
