Woods Bladeworks WIP for "Leviathan" Fixed Blade Prototype

Yes good job on the folder build I honestly leave thought it would happen. Like Nathen said many pepole start these big jobs then never finish. Much respect.
 
OK fellas I have just finished making 20 laser cut and etched leather blanks for the sheaths. Pics are coming once I get my camera out to the shop.

I have also decided on offering the Leviathan in TWO blade steels!

.21" 3V and .25" 1095

I have seen so much wicked stuff done with differential heat treats and hamons on 1095 that I just have to try my hand at it and see what happens!

Thoughts?
 
Got a double shoulder of vegetable tan 9oz cow hide. Trimmed it up and cut out the blanks. Here are a few pictures of the etchings available and one custom USMC version for a special customer. Don't worry about the burn marks on the leather a few seconds of acetone cleans them up nicely. These are ready to be dyed, assembled, and wet formed to finished knives.

I want to be closer to a delivery date before accepting orders. Just got back from waterjet! I'll post pictures and video of these beautiful blanks ASAP.
 
Blanks have been cut! 9 of CPM-3V .21" and 11 of 1095 1/4" and one very special .375" super chopper in D2.

The first run will be the wharncliffe harpoon design with drop point and spear point version coming.

I am jealous. All I have is a harbor freight bandsaw and a grinder. That water jet is pretty cool.
 
Seeing machines like this makes me feel so outdated and used up.. Very nice looking product you should have no trouble selling them,

Honestly I love water jetting my blanks because it saves me money and time. More importantly it adds a level of precision to the whole process that makes my work more professional and repeatable. Sure I could bandsaw all these out, drill the gimping, and ream all the handle locating holes but it would take WAY too much time and its worth me paying a buddy $15-20 per blank (I get a bigger discount if I bring bourbon :) ).

After the blades are ground and back from heat treat I'll put up a pre order thread. I want to be closer to shipping this time around before accepting orders.
 
Wow, you have access to alot of great equipment, jealous to say the least! I'm subscribed and waiting for the list to come out. Your shealth's are awesome, the leather, kydex and art work just come together perfectly.
