woods walk, Big Brother Cameras, nurse logs

welcome to vancouver BC. The only place i know where the parks provide free doggy bags and people bag their dogs waste and then throw the bag into the woods.

The only place i know where dogs running thru a rain water ditch nets you a fine.

the only place i know where people are more suspicious and nervous of outdoor types properly equipped for the woods, than they are of the thieves that break into their homes and cars.

money grab

If we lived close we would have to find a differnt place to hike. Our dogs love the water. We fished this morning with a single digit wind chill and Izzabelle had to get her feet in the creek.
Despite the cameras and sign it still looks like a nice place. Thank again for the pics.

Beautiful area:thumbup: Looks like a great day, too!

I can understand the frustration, though. The thought of keeping the dogs out of the creek just raises my hackles!!! If it was the last source of clean water in the country, then yeah, but just as an excuse to fine someone, that's BS.

And I could see cameras at the trailhead/parking area, but elsewhere...geez!

Still, looks like a pretty good outing!

the no dogs in the creek is because the creek is a salmon spawning area and they dont wish the area to be disturbed. im a dog owner and run my dog through that park once in a while and do find it stupid because my dog likes to cool off in the creek on hot days but the reason seems legit so she stays out.

the people who pick up their dog shit with plastic bags and then throw them to the side of the trail really piss me off. if i see people doing it i tell them to just kick their dog shit to the side of the trail next time instead of baggying it up and tossing it. atleast if its not bagged up it'll eventually biodigrade.

great pics dude. was this pacific spirit? i havent seen cameras in their but i tend to get in through off trail areas so that might be why :D

edit:

forgot to mention that part of that park is a research area for the local university so i would guess they would like to moniter the area. cameras elsewhere is just dumb.

due to the hysterical nervous jumpy people that use this area, i could not even break out a sak, i would have had the rcmp called on me, and due to the events of the previous year they probably would have shot me.

:thumbdn:

fight the power!

Do the deer, fox, squirrels, rabbits, racoons, opossums, bear, coyotes, and all the other critters get fined? Because I GUARANTEE you they are using the stream.

Seriously, that is stupid beyond stupid.

Carl-

I'm surprised those cameras are still standing. What would be better for chopping down big brother posts? Big knife or axe???!?!?!??? :D

If documenting the users of the Park can help track down a rapist / murderer, why did you flip them?

Because that is the mature, responsible, intelligent thing to do....isn't it??

Great pics but I have to ask. Why the sign keeping the dogs of the creek?

To keep idiot people from letting their idiot dogs* destroy salmon spawning areas or other protected-type things.

*not all dogs are idiots, but it is a fact that dogs that act stupid have stupid owners.

lets see, 9 murders in the park over the last 20 years......not one person caught! yea Big Brother and his all seeing lens is really working well!

seriously, aside from JCA21 have any of you even been here?

Have these cameras been in operation there for the last 20 years?

Or are they a more recent addition in response to the number of unsolved murders?

Can you explain to me how the cameras are supposed to work when their operation is being interferred with?

Don't bother comming over here.

With the attitude you have displayed, you'd be the type to light a campfire during a total fire ban just because you want to

Sorry...but that doesn't justify the immature, asinine behavior that serves no other purpose than to make all outdoors-types look like idiots.

Mick

I would have to agree with Mick here. Please, don't come this way.

hey "hippie haven" & Australia sound like great places to go hiking! I love hippy chicks and kangaroo meat. A kangaroo hunt and some surf fishing and 4x4'ing would be a nice break from here!

Feel free to come on down to BC for some great varied forests, mountains, and world class fly fishing!

Absolutely beautiful forest you have there. When I think of Canadian parks the stat "9 murders in 20 years" would never enter my mind. I'm actually surprised they didn't just close the park. As for the cameras, this appears like something they would do in the U.S. nowadays that is more to make the hikers feel safe than a real means to catch criminals. After all, what kind of criminal genius would it take to defeat the surveillance technology of a boxed camera affixed to a trail marker
