G'day Cpl Punishment
Thanks for taking the effort to explain.
I'm not advocating that Governments take the place of personal responsibility, rather questioning how vandalism can be condoned (let's face it, the real lack of objection tells me that most poeople here either don't have the guts to object to it or support the act I have objected to). Since v8unleashed has set the standard, this is what I think of those that either tacitly or actively support vandalism :jerkit:
I'm rather glad you have explained the mindset of arming onself for self defense. Goes a long way to explain the various posts I've seen on the internet over the years where people have tallied off their stockpile of ammunition & firearms to defend themselves from the rampaging masses when the SHTF, or when the Zombie hordes invade, or when the next pandemic is going to bring about TEOTWASKI or .......
Kind regards
Mick
Mick hey,
As the abusive 'tards seem to be safely tucked up in bed now I'll chime in. Not like I want to debate this, just giving you a different take. I will try to avoid a plummet into politics because that would be hellish for all I'm sure:
Although a dictionary isn't much help when it comes to what vandalism is as they usually just center round willful or malicious damage of property, I find vandalism and what motivates it can be so different in kind and intent such a bucket-term can be a pretty blunt instrument to examine an incidence of behavior. Whilst it is true I am usually as aghast and disgusted at episodes of apparently mindless destruction that beset out inner cities as the next decent bloke, I don't believe all instances of vandalism should just be lumped in the same class. That is especially true of cameras.
As you probably know England is now in a shocking surveillance state. More and more cameras are going up each day without any real demonstrable effect on crime reduction. Within the next couple of years police forces will be rolling out drones to fly over the public. That's not a guess. Those BAE military drones designed to scope out hostile and enemy positions will be put up here to monitor a peaceful civilian public. How has it got to that. I suspect because as a nation we did not all pull together on the rope and deliver a Dutch speed camera type response in a mass outbreak of civil disobedience. Since then the situation has gone from bad to worse and incredibly sophisticated cameras are routinely used in great chunks of England to monitor people going about their lawful business. There aren't many where I live but that doesn't mean I don't fully support those that take direct action to resist intrusion on their privacy where they live.
I find the concept of vandalism a strange thing. On one hand consider the forum trolls we have here. I don't usually regard them as anything more than forum vandals that abuse others. Every time some fetid and foul nurk rocks up here with the abuse guns on blazin' I think of a vandal devoid of a constructive end. Hate them. On the other hand some website defacement attacks find me with a big grin and a warm applause, so I guess I judge vandalism at least in part on the objectives.
Apocalypse is a legend in the community when it comes to
website defacement. Some would like you to believe he is a mere vandal. I probably don't agree with a lot of his objectives but to regard his protest in the same way one might a 'tard with a spray can at the bus stop misses a lot. And then there are those that are paid by governments to do that too.
Anyways, I'm sure you have the gist. I've tried hard to dodge politics here because I don't like it and it is also unwelcome. But it is hard not to tread on the toe of it for a moment when the subject matter is violence to cameras. All this wittering on said, I never suspected B5 was in a local park being that he is in Canada and all that. And I don't think I have a problem with cameras used wisely to keep kids safe on the swings or identify rapists in a car park.
regards
