Woodsteel23 is a scammer named Ryan Toh from Singapore. He has stolen knives from at least three people, including knifemaker Tobin Smith. He has also been banned from Watchnet.com for stealing a watch. Please avoid dealing with this guy.

I have (attempted to) attach a link with documentation of his thefts.

I dealt with Ryan on a sale for a JWS folder. I had a positive experience he payed promptly, we had a little hassle with usps on the shipping not showing as delivered but it finally made it. Overall I have had no problems with him, and was happy with the way out dealing went.

Ryan is AWESOME!! I PURCHASED a $ very expensive PDW Gareth Bull Custom INVICTUS from him without A SINGLE issue. We were in constant communication and still communicate to this day. Not only did we have a very smooth business transaction, but I feel like I made a new friend as well. I can't speak to the claims made in the OP but our deal was legit.

Sold him a tuff knives mini catalyst, didn't have any problems, paid promptly and was happy with the deal.

I have had nothing but a good experience with Ryan, I sold him 2 expensive John w smith knifes and he payed right away. Shipping was fine and transaction was smooth as any others I've done. You can buy and sell with confidence with Ryan.

I just sold Ryan an Andre Thorburn custom here on the forums.
His communications were excellent and he paid immediately
after committing to purchase the knife. Seemed like a nice young man to
me.

@Woodsteel23 maybe you can respond to this. I’m afraid to click on the link in the OP’s post LOL.

This would be his best bet. I did click that link, didn’t read everything, but what I did read doesn’t look too flattering.
All the above glowing posts can’t be complete BS.
Come on @Woodsteel23, your side of this mess is needed!
Joe

I read the linked info as well and it does seem like there are potential issues here that people should be aware of. It would be interesting to know a timeline of when the good and bad transactions were taking place. Might help figure out if it’s a good guy gone bad, or a bad guy who has straightened up and started acting right.

As far as I can tell, Woodsteel23's record on BF is without blemish. He is praised by long time members. Some of them have several thousand posts here. The OP has 18.

Meanwhile, there are unsubstantiated claims from other sites. Who knows what really happened on those sites.

Thread closed unless Woodsteel contacts the moderators and wishes to post.

I sold Ryan a John W. Smith folder recently and had a very positive experience. Communication back and forth was excellent and he sent payment promptly. I would not hesitate to deal with him again.

I sold Ryan a Thorburn in April 2015. No problems. I would deal with him again.

Ryan offered me a trade for a Rassenti Satori I had listed last week. I was skeptical because of this post, but he offered to ship his end first. I got his knife as described with a ton of extras he added, and it was completely flawless. Not to mention I got his knife within 3 days, and he stayed in constant communication throughout. I have zero complaints about my experience with him and I'd gladly trade with him again.

And, equally factual, Charles Manson didn't murder you. That's the problem with anecdotes, not to mention strangers who show up, dump on someone (typically with few details) and disappear. Who really knows what's going on?

But if you are the 5% who get nailed, the happy 95% are little consolation. You will be 100% PO'd.

Please don't close it, yet. For some reason, the OP's post has the ring of truth, to me. Maybe I'm wrong, I don't know, but, I did a bit of poking around, and Ryan's had some issues, in the past: https://supertalk.superfuture.com/topic/36800-transaction-problems-and-disputes/?page=40

Please see the post by rebelrebelrebel, it's kind of interesting. I'll grab the contents, of the post, and you guys can read it. I don't know if the links will be active, though.

This guy lodged a dispute within a few days of paying me for some Carol Christian Poell pants. I sent him a scanned copy of the tracking receipt and then even met him in person when he came to my city (he's apparently a flight attendant with Singapore Airlines) to talk to him as he "wanted to meet me in person". He said he would end the dispute as soon as he got back to his hotel room. Since that night - over four weeks ago - he has only responded to me once, saying he had dengue fever, but has also taken the paypal case to a claim and got his money refunded as paypal stated the address on the receipt wasn't complete. Despite being able to confirm the number with Australia Post tracking services that it was delivered and signed for.

edit: He now has the CCP pants and the money.

Do not deal with this guy. Googling his name brings up a post on a watch forum where he pulled a similar thing with someone else and also disappeared.

Details:
