WooHoo, SageII!

True lol. I know some companies wouldn't help you if you did void the warranty like that, but I have the feeling they'd still honor it with that modification. Maybe I am too optimistic.

Speaking of warranty voidage, does anybody who has both Sages know if it appears possible to do a mod to make one of them have the non-locking side as CF/SS, leaving the Ti side for the lock? Thanks!

It appears that it would be fairly simple for someone to swap out a CF scale for the Ti one on the new Ti Sage if you had one made.

Yes and YES!! Just ordered mine and I can't friggin wait to receive it. This is one of only two Spydies that I really really wanted this summer. The other is the Terzuola Slipit when it makes it's appearance.

Didn't even see the Terzuola slipit. I do like how Spyderco releases knives and the info on them at random points instead of just one release in the beginning of the year saying "Here's the new stuff, it is out X date." It is a pain to wait, but it makes things more interesting.

Nice! Is that the small Sebenza? I'm stoked now. What are your impressions so far?

First post updated with pics!

Thanks for the great pictures and the comparison to the Sebenza.

Does the new Sage change the way you think about the Sebenza?

That is, make you appreciate the Sebenza more...or less? A different design that's pretty cool as well?

Reeek: Yes, it's a small 21. Impressions, well it's a well made knife but definately not on par with the sebenza. Opening isn't solid/smooth like the sebbie, it's more flickable. Meaning if you put some tension on your thumb you can flick it open.
Detent is really nice just like the sebenza. One hit against the Sage is that it rides like a bigger knife in the pocket. You can see that it's almost 1.5 times wider than the sebenza.

gcgcgc: It doesn't change my love for the Sebenza. For the price though, it comes pretty close. Don't get me wrong the sebbie is superior, but for half the price it puts 80-90% of what the sebenza offers in your hands. Yes, I know it's made in China so labor cost blah, blah, blah. I tend to favor US made knives, but this is one of few I had to make an exception for.

Taiwan ;)

The Sage has always been a flickable knife so that is in line with the last iteration. Thanks!

That's what I expected...

I love my spyderco products (delica, mule, and SS ladybug) but I'm saving up for a Sebenza and probably won't take a detour for this Sage, as much as I'd like to - the Ti Millie is the next "definite" for me from Golden ;)

Thanks again, enjoy!!! They look like two awesome knives.

Comparison pic - got my Sage this evening. Very nice knife. Here it is with some other favorites. (Kopa is a new one too thanks to DaveZ)

Nice, actually looks a little bigger than the Sm. Seb, I wasnt expecting that for some reason. I've never owned a Sage, so didnt really know how big they were.
Looks like it carries very well in the pocket.

Thanks for the pics!

Spyderco forum user gull wing has already done the mod and it looks like it works great. Check out the last picture of the first post in this thread for proof it can be done. I like it except for the shiny SS liner underneath the carbon fiber clashes with the matte grey of the Ti.

Used my Sage II over the last few days. It came very sharp and edge retention was OK. I used it alot and the edge rolled a bit. Took it to my Crock Stix and reduced the grind angle a bit. Then stropped it and then another round on the Crock Stix. Very good edge and holding up well now. Was a bit thin for serious cutting when I got her. Nothing negative to say about this knive. I noticed it does not have a lanyard hole which I don't care about but a point I haven't seen mentioned.
